Backpacking through Europe: What-to-do List
Before, travelling in Europe is considered a privilege. Not everybody can have a tour of the continent. Not everybody can stay in the best hotels with the best accommodations. Powerful and influential individuals only enjoy this privilege.
Those days for the few and privileged are already gone. Backpacking through Europe provides everybody (including you) easy access to know Europe up close and personal. All you have to do is strap a backpack and let the European atmosphere carry you to elegant places in the continent.
Although to enjoy backpacking through Europe, there are certain things that you need to consider. These things are imperative, for it will affect the results of your travel.
Therefore, if you are planning to go on a backpacking trip through Europe, here are some of the essential things you need in your travel plans.
Creating an itinerary
One of the joys when backpacking in Europe is arriving at a train station and deciding at that moment where you want to go. It will provide you a journey that you will not forget (though you need to have a map, or else you will lose your way around).
You can also consider different things when having your itinerary plans. The time of season is important, so that you can anticipate everything that goes with it. If you will be travelling in the winter, have yourself booked with a hostel so that you will not be staying outdoors while in Europe.
Estimate the length of time that you will be travelling. If you are a first timer, then a month of backpacking travel is enough for you to roam around and see much cool stuff. It will also help you to decide the cost that you will incur while you are on your backpacking activity.
Getting the necessary travel documents
Prepare your passports and visa (in case you are a foreign national). Although you are treated as a visitor, it is standard procedure of a certain country to have their foreign guests be properly documented. In case that you are lacking some documents while you are in Europe, you can have a visit at the US Embassy in a European country.
Packing according to your needs
Having a good backpacking trip is also dependent on how you pack. It is important that you bring exactly the things you need-nothing more, nothing less.
The contents of your backpack will also depend on when and where you will be travelling in Europe. For instance, if you are travelling in Sweden in December or in Greece in August requires different clothing.
Pack light. Here are some of the stuffs that you can include in your backpack when travelling:
* One sweater, preferably cotton fabric
* Some t-shirts (plain colored shirts are the best)
* Waterproof jacket
* Two nice pairs of jeans
* One pair of shorts
* Enough pieces of undergarments
* A pair of comfortable walking shoes
* A pair light non-athletic shoes (in case that you want to get in a club; bouncers will not let you in if you are wearing your sneakers)
* Bathing suit
* Shower flip-flops
Getting around Europe
Take advantage of Europe's train system when roaming around the continent. You can use the Eurail pass to board a train. It covers 17 countries, including the following:
