The worst can be loud, shine bright lights everywhere, and trashy. You might not even know that the best ones are even there. Part of the reason I prefer backpacking to camping in a campground is so that I don't have to worry about neighbors. If there is someone there, I just keep on hiking until I find a suitable un-occupied spot. (This is also an advantage of using a hammock, I don't need level ground, so tent campers can't sleep beside me even if they wanted to!)
