I've had some bad neighbors when camping, and some fabulous ones. The worst can be loud, shine bright lights everywhere, and trashy. You might not even know that the best ones are even there.

Part of the reason I prefer backpacking to camping in a campground is so that I don't have to worry about neighbors. If there is someone there, I just keep on hiking until I find a suitable un-occupied spot. (This is also an advantage of using a hammock, I don't need level ground, so tent campers can't sleep beside me even if they wanted to!)
