It is no surprise that many women are into purses. Evening bags, everyday purses, designer bags are all the rage for many ladies. One of the most convenient designs of purses is the backpack purses. These handy bags are extremely useful as an everyday purse for carrying the essentials every lady needs throughout the day. Most of these types of purses have the same kinds of helpful pockets as a traditional backpack, just on a smaller scale. The huge selection ensures that regardless of personal style, a backpack purse is the perfect fit for anyone.

Backpack purses are made from a huge variety of materials. Genuine leather, denim, and nylon are just a few of the durable materials used to create these handy little masterpieces. Most are also equipped with the finest, well constructed zippers, clasps, and hardware possible. Just like with a traditional backpack, backpack purses should be carefully checked for fit and comfort. You don't want to get a purse home, use it, and then realize that it rubs on the shoulders in a wrong way or flops uncomfortably on your back. Many of these styles come with adjustable shoulder straps to help the user get the most comfortable fit.

Another advantage to choosing to carry one of the backpack purses is style. They are fresh, young looking accessories that will fit into any woman's wardrobe without a hitch. Backpack purses look great with jeans and a t-shirt or a leather purse would look sensational with a more dress casual look like khaki dress pants and a sweater. Either way it is a winning combination. Backpack purses can also make the transition to vacation. There isn't a simpler way to carry beach essentials than in a backpack. Take the look to a feminine level and carry a backpack purse. Backpack purses are as versatile as their backpack counterparts.

For the greatest level of comfort, backpack purses can't be beat. Instead of constantly readjusting the shoulder strap of a regular purse all the time, these bags stay put. Many women complain of shoulder pain on the side they carry their purses. With the backpack purses, the weight is evenly distributed on both shoulders and across the back. This is incredibly useful in long shopping trips or on an outing with the family. Sometimes comfort is more important than tradition. The user is also less likely to lose their bag since it isn't necessary to put it down at every stop.

Backpack purses are convenient, stylish, and a great way to save back and shoulder strain. Every woman from kindergarten through adulthood will appreciate having a well constructed, appealing handbag.

Hiking and camping, while often lumped into the same outdoor sports category, can be very different. With camping, the goal is to be outside and away from society as long as possible. When you are hiking the goal is to stay away from society as long as possible but to get some exercise while you're doing it. That's why it is fairly important to find good hiking backpacks so that when you are out avoiding other people, you don't end up wishing for your car.

Once you have all of your other gear sorted out, you want to examine it and decide on what size hiking backpacks will work for your group of hikers. The size of hiking backpacks is very important because the goal of the adventurer is to try to keep moving at all times, you will need an extremely comfortable and durable pack that won't ruin your back, your shoulders, or your fun. Look for hiking backpacks with adjustable shoulder straps with plenty of padding so they don't dig into your shoulders while you are carrying it. Also, an adjustable and padded hip belt is also important, as is a pack that displaces the weight of the pack on you back evenly. This too will help protect your body while you are hiking.

Internal frame hiking backpacks are probably the best type. They offer internal aluminum frames that are actually integrated into the inside of the pack. These aluminum frames are exceptionally light weight because of the type of metal they are made of and because they are usually hollow. Some of these types of hiking backpacks will have one external bar that will help disperse the weight more evenly and will focus the weight of the pack closer to your hips, which is where your natural center of gravity is.

Pockets on the side and front of your pack may be of the same material or made of mesh. The mesh pockets help you to find your gear easily. But of course mesh pockets aren't waterproof. All hiking backpacks have easy access pockets for hydration gear, and some even have built in tube through which you can take fluids. The main compartments of some packs are divided. This provides space for both dirty and clean clothing and gear. It also helps you to organize your gear in a way that will make it easier for you to find it later. Side compression straps are the most important aspect of hiking backpacks. These straps compress the load so that the pack doesn't slide around on your back and there is less jostling while you are hiking.

Everyone knows that campers and hunters need a place to keep and carry their gear. When perusing the camping supply aisles in stores, you may have noticed how overwhelming it is to find a backpack large enough to carry all of the necessary items you will need on your adventure in the great outdoors. Sometimes you may have wondered if bringing a pack mule or a camel would be a benefit for the serious backpack camper. However, if you have a good backpack, you won't need to bring along a four-legged beast to cart your gear – you'll only need your shoulders.

Many backpack campers and even some overnight hunters carry way too much on their trips into the wilderness, and often find themselves lugging around too many unnecessary items. But no matter what you feel you need to carry with you on your outdoor travels, you need a place for all of it. Many backpack manufacturers have taken this into account and have come up with solutions to your backpack problems. Whatever your backpack needs, you can find a backpack to suit them.

You will definitely need a place for things like rain gear, food, and plenty of water. You may also want to bring along field dressing gear or your first aid kit – remember, this is very important, especially if you will be camping or hunting in an area that is far from immediate help should an accident occur. Since you will be bringing so many different and important items, you will want to be certain that your backpack is made of a lightweight material. That way you will not have to drag around a huge heavy backpack with gear that also weighs a ton. But remember that the weight of the backpack is not nearly as important as the durability of the material. Your backpack should be made of strong, water-proof material. The backpack should be able to withstand hard wind, heavy rain and snow, and you should be able to basically throw it on the ground and not worry about it tearing or leaking water onto your gear. Many camping gear companies now coat their backpack material with silicone to make it more durable and water proof.

Weight displacement is also extremely important for those campers who are traveling long distances. A wider backpack will make the weight of the pack lay on a larger portion of your back, and that will ultimately make carrying the backpack easier on your shoulders and back. Another important consideration is the functionality of the design of the bag. There should be pockets on the outside so you can easily access your water supply, and there should be interior mesh pockets to organize smaller gear items. Also, having a lot of padding on your shoulder straps will help your comfort level immensely.

One of the most adventurous and very extreme activities to do is backpacking. It offers excitement and enjoyment that can never be measured by any amount. Backpacking provides experience for a lifetime.

Backpacking requires perfect place to discover, a place to dig, a place to visit. One of the perfect places for backpacking is Europe.

Europe is a place for all backpackers. Backpacking in Europe is an experience to be treasured. It is a great experience to boast. Traveling and experiencing many different and distinct cultures and customs in a very short span of time is wonderful.

In the past, traveling through Europe is just for those aristocratic youth that has the money to spend. In the past, Europe is just for those who are of blue blood. But those days are already gone.

Today, anyone can travel and backpack across Europe. Anyone with little amount of money and cash can now get to the so called 'dream continent' and know the place up close and more personal.

All it need is backpack on the back and explore the continent and go with the European winds that take you.

Backpacking in Europe is cheap and it is really cool, but despite these, it is also dangerous. The following are some tips and advices on backpacking in Europe. These are maybe of big help for those planning to backpack across Europe.

* Before going to Europe to backpack, plan your trip first. You should determine the quantity of time you have to travel. Decide on the exact date when you are going to travel.

If you want companion, determine whom you will be traveling with. Be definite on the kind of accommodations you are interested in. Determine your objective for the travel. Most importantly, get a guidebook and start reading.

* Of course, one of the essential parts of your planning is determining where you want to go and what route you need to take. You should determine the specific places of your destination and the locations where you will be flying. Take note of important locations you want to explore and discover. Have a list of the other places you want to visit and decide what kind of culture you want to experience.

* Determine the expenses you will need to spend for backpacking in Europe. Remember that it is better to go with less time rather than having too much time in your hands but not enough pocket money to go.
* Secure locks to protect your backpacks. It is very safe to stay in hostels. Your safety is not the one being questioned, it is your belongings. Buy heavy-duty locks for your backpacks. This will help keep your mind at ease during traveling.

* Get a compass, even just a small one. As you go backpacking and visiting places, there are chances of getting lost. A compass can act as a great guide in helping you find the right ways.

* Bring some money belts with you. You can use this to store and protect your valuable documents like visas, credit cards, plane tickets and of course your money and cash. This is a safety measure in case you encounter thieves in the street that may just snatch your things.

* Always have first aid with you. This is for emergency purpose. Be open of the fact that you will likely experience accidents, this will help you greatly.

As a whole, backpacking in Europe is one of the satisfying and pleasing experiences that you will ever have in your life. Backpacking in Europe offers vast choices of places to explore and to discover. Wherever country in Europe you decide to concentrate, it is guaranteed to be a fantastic trip as long as you keep caution and do not forget certain security measures mentioned here.

Were it the still the early twentieth century and materials like nylon and sailcloth were not readily available, most would probably tell you to run out to your local outdoor sporting goods store and pick up a leather backpack for all of your camping, hiking, and hunting needs. However, it is not, in fact, the twentieth century, but the twenty first. And as it is the twenty first century, you will want to be aware of the problems that may arise from purchasing a leather backpack.

First of all, most reputable sporting goods companies have all but stopped making a leather backpack specifically for camping and other outdoors events. You may be wondering why this is. Leather is a fairly volatile material, and, when it is not reinforced, it can be a little unpredictable when it accidentally slides down a rocky mountainside. Also, real leather tends to shrink in the rain. No just imagine you are hiking along, and you get caught in a rain or snow storm. Now imagine that you feel as though your entire upper body is getting tighter and tighter. No, you aren't having a heart attack, your leather backpack is just shrinking because of all of the moisture it is absorbing.

And speaking of moisture: leather doesn't hold up very well in rain and snow. Just think of your most expensive pair of dress shoes. Do you want to wear them out in a monsoon? No. You'd rather wear your nylon running shoes and change when you get to the office where it is dry. The same theory holds true for a leather backpack, except out in the wilderness, there's really no where dry and certainly no place to discard your wet backpack. Many have been soaked all the way through their clothes before (and possibly, you have been too). And in situations like that, the only thing you can really look forward to is putting on dry clothes. Well, if you have a leather backpack that has absorbed every drop of moisture in a 3 mile radius, the chances of your finding dry underwear in your pack is significantly less than it would be had you purchased a nylon or other backpack made of waterproof material. And to be completely honest, no one wants to smell like wet cow leather.

Let's face the facts: if you buy a regular leather backpack the way manufacturers are making them now – as purses or school book bags – you will end up hating yourself for it. It's true that for urban activities a leather backpack is a great item to have. But when you're wandering off into the wilderness for a few days, the best advice would be to buy a newer style of backpack, something made of nylon and plastic. It's cheaper, sturdier, and much more reliable.

Everyone, regardless of his or her walk of life, knows that living in today's world can get expensive. Everything from gas to good food seems to be constantly rising in cost. Many people try to find ways to save money and still get high quality goods for their money. Discount retail store chains have become increasingly popular in the last few decades and with good reason. Parents, students, and professionals have all seen the need for discount backpacks and the manufacturers and retail chains have reacted in kind. Since backpacks are so important to a great number of people, discounted items are one of the biggest rising trends in backpack sales.

Retail stores are a good place to look for discount backpacks. They often have an enormous selection of different styles, colors, and sizes to accommodate any person. Children discount backpacks are usually smaller, have cartoon character design or child friendly themes, and are made to be durable to at least survive the school year. Discount backpacks are also very useful for the high school and college aged crowds. There is nothing more convenient than using a backpack to carry your things through busy halls or on a crowded campus than a backpack. Considering that the majority of students aren't independently wealthy, discount backpacks are a great option.

Finding a high quality discount backpack isn't difficult either. Just like with any other consumer product, there is virtually an unlimited supply of websites and companies that deal in excellent quality backpacks at affordable prices. As with any backpack, discount backpacks should be checked for durability and proper fit. Being sure the zippers and fastenings work properly is important as well.

Whether a person is a student or corporate executive, the style and appearance of their discount backpack is important. Most manufacturers make backpacks in a wide range of styles and uses. Laptop backpacks are popular with both students and professionals, since they are made to safely hold and protect computers with pockets for other necessary items. The materials used are versatile as well. Leather and nylon are often used for their durability and handsome appearance. Some discount backpacks resemble briefcases or attach cases in their classy design.

If you know where to look and have specific needs in mind, purchasing one of the discount backpacks is a sound decision for the busy person. They are attractive, convenient, and very reasonably priced. With all of the options available to the consumer, discount backpacks are truly the best value for the dollar. Everyone can stand to save a little money wherever they can.

But what most would definitely stay away from is leather backpacks. In that situation, you want to know for sure that whatever you have packed into your backpack is dry and safe.

If you are considering purchasing a backpack for the sole purpose of camping, hiking or hunting, most experts would recommend a nylon backpack, or any other waterproofed material. But what most would definitely stay away from is leather backpacks. While they are attractive, stylish, and very soft, leather backpacks are not exactly the kind of gear you want to keep your camping gear dry in a torrential downpour when you are walking around in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the wet clothes on your back. In that situation, you want to know for sure that whatever you have packed into your backpack is dry and safe. Leather backpacks are not the best bet for keeping things dry and safe when you are camping.

Most modern backpack manufacturers have really stopped making leather backpacks for use when camping, hunting, and hiking and other long term outdoors adventures. Apparently, these companies have resorted to using high grade synthetic materials that are easily waterproofed. This makes it much easier to produce, and creates a much more reliable product for the avid outdoorsman.

Most leather backpacks are now made as trendy and expensive alternatives to the standard school yard book bag as opposed to the heavy duty use camping pack. It is true that some manufacturers still used reinforced leather bottoms for their packs, but the days of completely leather backpacks seem to be over. While the reinforced leather bottom on a pack may be a good idea, making an entire pack out of the same reinforced leather would probably make a pack that was way too heavy to carry and way to expensive to produce and purchase.

Most of the leather backpacks that you can find in stores now are geared towards the student or workaholic on the go. These packs come with specialized pockets not for hydration equipment, maps and compasses, but for things like MP3 players, hand held organizers, and laptop computers. The shoulder straps are often not padded correctly with a durable material, but rather are made of a foam material that will break down before you reach the first mile of an off trail hike. As mentioned above, the main pockets and the body of leather backpacks nowadays are made of non-reinforced leather which means that they would probably rip open the first time you tossed it to the ground after a long trek.

The basic point is that even though leather backpacks are very pretty and very useful for urban events like going to the library or the coffee shop, or even walking around the mall, if you are dedicated hiker and camper, you will want to look into more durable packs that are designed for campers' needs.

Backpacking is one of the forms of low-cost international travel available. That is why many travellers are sorting to this kind of adventure. It gives them mobility and flexibility that they need to roam around a particular place.

There are many places around the world where backpacking is an ideal travel. But who would ever thought that Iraq is one of it? After the war between the coalition forces and the Republican Guards of ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, what had been left for Iraq, which is considered to be the world's cradle of civilization?

Even after the tension that happened during the summer of 2003 and the current conflicts that Iraq is experiencing the recent years, it has still something to offer for backpacking travellers. So, if you are looking for a different adventure yet you still not have an itinerary, then this article is for you. Prepare yourself-you will now invade Iraq.

Getting Started: Passport/Visa

Iraq continues to undergo restructuring its government after the US-led war against Saddam Hussein's regime in the summer of year 2003. Although, it's Foreign Service is now open to facilitate foreign nationals who are coming in and out of the country. All foreign nationals are advised to have the necessary passport and visa to facilitate proper documentation. Also, all are advised to register their presence with their respective embassies.

Backpacker's General Information

Ideal travel months are from June to August. The air temperatures in these months are ranging from 38 to 43 degrees Celsius (100-110 degrees Fahrenheit). Rains are expected in months of December to March with fair temperatures of around 15 to 18 degrees Celsius (60-65 degrees Fahrenheit).

Although the official language in Iraq is Arabic, English is widely spoken in urban centers. If you will be passing by the communities of the Turkomans who reside along the Baghdad and Mosul highways, they speak a Turkish dialect. In case you will be travelling to other places aside from Basra and Iraq, an interpreter is quite helpful.

Internal Travel in Iraq

Many airlines have cancelled all their commercial flights after the war. Although little by little, regular air operations between Baghdad, Basra, and Mosul are now starting to resume.

Iraq has a rail service, spreading over 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles) most of which is standard gauge. There is an additional 300 kilometers (200 miles) that is under construction. The regular route starts from the Syrian Arab Republic Border at Tel-Kotchek to Baghdad, Mosul, and Basra. There is also train service from Baghdad to Kirkuk and Arbil.

Travel in urban areas is now convenient, with double-deck buses plying different routes in and out of the main cities of Iraq. Bus tickets are pre-purchased at kiosks. There are also private mini-buses and taxis around the town that you can rent.

Places Not to Miss

Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq, has once been the center of attraction during the war. However, it is still the main itinerary for travellers in Iraq. Main attraction is the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, and the presidential palaces of then President Saddam Hussein that will make your visit in Baghdad worthwhile.

Basra is located 550 kilometers (343 miles) south of Baghdad and can be reached to by available modes of transportation. Although tagged as one of the major venues of battle between insurgents and the military, its beauty is still evident in the area such as extensive palm groves of unique kind in the outskirts of the city. There are other attractions that await backpackers.

So pack your things and start to have your backpacking journey on the restructured Republic of Iraq.

One of the most useful additions to portable bags is the invention of the rolling backpacks. With all of the convenience of a traditional design, these backpacks are more adept at making carrying essential items more comfortable. They can work as carry on luggage on planes, in some cases they can be used as briefcases with important equipment and paperwork stored inside. The designs are virtually limitless and rolling backpacks can be successfully used by people in all walks of life. Everyone from elementary students to busy professionals will find that using a backpack with wheels is the fastest, most back friendly way to get their belongings from Point A to Point B.

There are few key elements to keep in mind when choosing the right rolling backpack for you. The first thing to consider is ergonomics. Rolling backpacks should be as compatible to the person using it as possible. For example the handle should be long enough to allow the owner the ability to walk upright when pulling it without any hunching or distortion of the back and shoulders. Since all terrains won't allow for the wheels to be used, be sure the shoulder straps are padded and wide enough for comfort. It is also a good idea to try on the pack to determine if it sits at least 2 inches above the waist. This is essential for the proper fit.

Most experts recommend that a backpack of any type, rolling backpacks included, not be packed with any weight above 20% of the person's body weight. This is especially important to consider when purchasing a pack for children. Teach them to pack their rolling backpacks in such a way as to evenly distribute the weight of their school supplies. For an adult, the same rule applies and the best thing to do is use the rolling feature to help protect those easily damaged back muscles and spine.

Of course the appearance of the rolling backpacks is important as well. Students and young adults will probably prefer a backpack that doesn't look like carry on luggage. Fortunately these backpacks come a wide variety of styles and colors, so finding the perfect look shouldn't be too much of a problem. Older adults and professionals have a lot of option in rolling backpacks as well. Many are styled to look like a small carryon case or even a professional looking tote. Once again, there are plenty of designs for men, women, and students that are appealing to each group.

Rolling backpacks are a huge benefit to busy people on the go. They are less stressful for the back and shoulders and are incredibly convenient.

Different places around the world offer different backpacking adventures. They have their own culture to share with their visitors, and at the same time promoting their places and inviting them to add their places to the future backpacking itineraries of travelers.

If you still do not have an itinerary, or just confused of places that you want to have your backpacking trip, maybe you want to consider Europe as your destination.

Backpacking in Europe is not as easy as you will purchase your plane tickets and rail pass. It takes a lot of time planning your travel. In case like this, let this article be your guide in planning your visit to the old continent.

Places of Interest

You may think that Europe is not a big continent at all, like Asia or Africa, though there are many countries and cities that you cannot visit in just one trip.

It is suggested that you conduct your visit in the main cities or regions of Europe. You can have some brochures from the tourism council of European Union (EU) that lists some of the popular countries in the continent.

Getting There

Boarding a commercial plane is the best way to reach Europe. If you are thinking about your limited budget, you do not have to worry. There are flight consolidators that offer low-cost air travel tickets for travelers. There are also travel search engines in the Internet that provide good airline ticket prices.

In case that you are a student that wants to have a backpacking trip to Europe, you can also avail of the student discount air travel ticket. Check your university; sometimes they are posting list of airline companies that sells cheap air travel tickets to students.

Where to Stay

There are great places to stay in Europe. And if you are seeking a place to stay, hostels are available for such purpose. You do not have to worry about the tariff; usually they are charging around 15 euros per person. In order to book a hostel, maybe it is wise to have a Hostelling International Card which you can use while in Europe.

If you are traveling on months of July and August, you need to book ahead of time because it is considered to be the busiest months of the year for backpackers.

Getting around Europe by Eurail or InterRail

Traveling through train is the most popular way of visiting Europe. The continent has developed different modern train systems around the major locations. It is the convenient way of traveling and can take you wherever you wan to go.

Eurail is a type of rail pass to board Europe's train. Its cost is very low compared to the cost you will incur when purchasing individual tickets. It also offers discount to tourist attractions as well. However, you need to check the options for rail passes.

There are such that is just valid on certain regions or just valid on the date of the travel. In such cases, go for passes with a long validity period or unlimited amount of days of travel.

Eurail is only for non-European travelers. If happens that you are a European, you can get an InterRail pass. It is also cheaper and also valid for use outside your home country. Make sure that you have purchased your rail passes before you leave for Europe.

Your Backpack

It is advised that you only load your backpack with the things that you only need while you are on the trip. If you are planning to go out occasionally, just pack one nice shirt and a pair of pants or skirts and you off to go.

However, do not forget to bring a nice pair of shoes if you will be getting into clubs. Unlike in United States, bouncers in Europe do not allow anybody who just wears a pair of sneakers.

Do not buy a big backpack. It will just be a heavy burden for you. Make sure that it has hip belts and tightening straps. You can check different backpacking stores in Europe and get more information from them.

So you have the necessary guides that you need to start your backpacking travel. Happy traveling in Europe!

When children are just starting out in school, whether for pre school or kindergarten, they are almost always excited about buying their first backpack.

When children are just starting out in school, whether for pre school or kindergarten, they are almost always excited about buying their first backpack. This is a right of passage that many little ones don't soon forget. School backpacks are available in a wide range of colors, themes, and styles. It's simply a matter of deciding which one is best for the student. For most parents price range and durability are considerations as well. Starting school backpack shopping early is a great way to find the perfect backpack at the best price for each specific student's needs.

Young children have a lot of choices when it comes to their school backpacks. Popular cartoon character packs are often their first choice. Little girls tend to like the Disney Princess line or flower and butterfly design. A drawback for parents with these school backpacks is that they are usually pastel colors and get dirty easily. Staying on top of cleaning is vital for keeping these backpacks looking fresh. Young boys find everything from skateboard friendly versions to action character backpacks appealing. The color choice is usually easier to keep clean. When picking a backpack for either gender in this age group, parents want to be sure the product is durable and well made. If it looks like it will fall apart in a few weeks, then it isn't a good buy even if it is a child's favorite character theme.

Older students, like high school and college age kids, have a lot of choice in school backpacks as well. Many styles are equipped to carry a laptop and other electronic devices that become so important at these levels. College students on a large campus would benefit from choosing a backpack style with wheels for those long walks to class. Some high schools don't recommend the rolling design because they don't fit in lockers very well. Like designs for the younger kids, these backpacks come in a huge variety of colors, designs, materials, and styles. Spending a little more on a backpack at this stage is a good idea. The well made backpack will stand up to use longer and older students are more likely to take care of the product. Using one of the well designed school backpacks is a useful tool in keeping school supplies and assignments organized.

Regardless of age and education level, school backpacks are an incredibly important school supply. If worn correctly they protect developing backs and shoulders and make staying organized easier. Besides, it's just a lot of fun to decide on one of the many styles and colors available.

In recent history, backpacks have become the perfect accessory for a lot of people of all ages and walks of life. They are convenient to carry and can hold many different essential items. Whether you are using the backpack to carry a little one's belongings or looking for the many choices in children's backpacks, these handy packs definitely make life with or for a young child easier. The models, styles, and colors available on the market make it easy to find the perfect fit for your child. The versatility of children's backpacks is remarkable. They can be used to carrying school supplies, toys, or used as an overnight bag to Grandma and Grandpa's. The materials most manufacturers use are durable and lightweight and hold up well to the strain of everyday use and little hands.

Many new and seasoned moms are making the switch from diaper bag to backpack. Some companies are noting the shift and adding children's backpacks designed to function as a diaper bag to their lines of quality products. This style of pack is easier to carry while managing a baby and their assorted needs. Instead of uncomfortably touting a shoulder diaper bag, more and more moms are taking the hands free approach and carrying the essentials on their backs. These backpacks can be found in a wide variety of colors and themes to accommodate any mom and her baby.

Of course, school age children are very fond of picking their own backpack as well. Using one of the well made children's backpacks is a better choice than a school satchel or carrying books and supplies in their arms. The backpacks limit the weight on the shoulders and reduce strain in the hips due to unnecessary weight and unnatural positioning. It is important to look at the quality of the backpack to be sure it can stand up to the abuse it will suffer at the hands of busy, sometimes careless children. Kids often think it is fun to choose their own backpack and pick out the details like color, cartoon character, and style.

High school and older students have a need for a quality backpack as well. These models of children's backpacks are designed with their specific needs in mind. Many come equipped with special pockets for cell phones, pens, and calculators. Laptop backpacks are very popular as well. Especially for college students who may use their notebook computer on a regular basis, this feature is invaluable.

Children's backpacks have come a long way from the one style fits all theory of the past. Careful planning of a child's needs and closely paying attention to the construction of the product is the best course of action in choosing an appropriate backpack.

Europe, a continent rich in history and culture.

Have you ever thought or daydreamed about traveling around Europe?

Just thinking about backpacking around Europe is so exciting. You probably heard about the things you will see around Europe. Imagine yourself in the Eiffel Tower in France on the first day and eating breakfast in Austria on the next.

It can be very exciting just thinking about it. You might think that it can be very expensive traveling around Europe, but you can save money by backpacking.

Here are some important tips you should remember when backpacking in Europe on a small budget:

* Buy a specific travel book for Europe. Here you can find directions on places to visit, things to do and specific things of what not to do in a certain European country. Another thing you should buy is a phrase book. European countries have different languages, it is important that you know how to ask for direction in a specific language.

* Try to list down every place you want to visit. It is also important that you have a specific schedule on when to travel. There are times when traveling arrangements can be hard in a specific European country. It may seem simple that you just have to list all the European countries and cities you want to visit. Sometimes, though you might get carried away and come up with an impossible list.

What this means is that you should be realistic about your budget. Be sure that the countries and cities you will be visiting in Europe are possible to visit on your budget. Try to decide about where you want to visit most.

* If you want to save money when backpacking Europe, it is advisable to stay at hostels or bed and breakfast establishments rather than hotels. These establishments are all over Europe and very accommodating. Hostels and bed and breakfast establishments can save you a lot of money than staying on expensive hotels.

* Pack only what you need. Choose dark colors when backpacking. This will conceal any dirt or stains acquired on your trip and it will not be noticeable. When traveling in cold weather, it is also advisable that backpackers should wear layered clothes instead of packing bulky sweaters.

It is also almost impossible to find the time to wash your clothes so buy some odor absorbers that you can put in with your clothes. These products can neutralize strong odors like cigarette smoke. A great way to save space on your bag is to rip out pages in guidebooks that you need. Place these pages on a small notebook or organizer.

* Since backpacking will require a lot of walking, it is wise that you should buy good walking shoes. Hiking shoes are great; it is very durable, water resistant, and lightweight. It is also wise that you should first test the shoes. If you develop blisters on your feet, then you should buy another pair of shoes.

* Choosing your backpack is also important. It should be comfortable enough when you are carrying it with at least 20-30 pounds worth of clothing and other necessities. Ask the salesperson to put in weights to get the feel of it. A backpack should also be proportional to your body. Do not buy a backpack that it would seem like you can fit in them.

* Try to find out about the maximum size for a carry on bag. Always remember the length, width and height required for a carry-on bag.

* If you want to bring electronics like, mp3 players, digital cameras, and mobile phones, try to bring small and compact electronic equipment. You should also consider bringing a charger for your electronic equipments. Try to find out about the electronic outlet of each European country you are going to visit. Bring a plug adaptor so you can plug in your chargers.

Traveling Europe can be fun. It is important that you should always stick to your plan so that you can travel safely and cheaply around Europe.

There are several different types of camping people enjoy participating in. Some consider reserving a family cabin at a resort complete with a kitchen and full modern appliances camping. Others feel camping at a campsite where you can pull your vehicle right up to the site is camping. And still other brave souls are truly at home camping in primitive sites. That means carrying all of your gear, food, and necessities in with you. The most logical piece of equipment to have in this situation is a good, well made backpack. After all, it will be the easiest way to get all of your belongings into the deep outdoors. Camping with backpacks being the only way to transport necessary items takes preparation and thought on the part of the participants.

Several companies make backpacks that are up to the challenge. There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a backpack for this type of camping. Choose one with a built in hydration system. Clean, cool water will make a huge difference when you are trekking miles with a heavy load to the campsite. Be sure the backpack is equipped with places to put emergency items like first aid kits and cell phones, if service is available. Camping with backpacks is perfectly safe, but you never know when someone will be injured in your backyard, let alone in the great, natural outdoors. Another feature a backpack should have is sturdy comfortable straps for the shoulders and back. A waist strap is good too, as it limits the movement of the pack on your back and can reduce chaffing.

If you are into primitive camping, a tent may not be your best bet. If you decide to take a tent, make it a one or two man model. Many people go camping with backpacks with just a sleeping bag. Your backpack should be equipped with a strap to hold a rolled up sleeping bag with.

Camping with backpacks is a great way to reconnect with nature and yourself. Long time experts at this form of camping continue to go for a variety of reasons. Some are addicted to the solitude and temporarily getting away from modern conveniences and, let's face it, nuisances. Others go with other people and find it a great way to enjoy, learn, and appreciate nature. There is a special peace and tranquility that comes with being out in the natural beauty of the woods. Camping with backpacks allows for greater freedom than campgrounds. After all, there are no neighbors to be concerned about disturbing with a late night chat or long lines at the bathhouse.

Many tourists and hiking fans have already discovered the advantages to using travel backpacks in their adventures. The convenience of carrying all of their essential items on their backs instead of uncomfortably on one shoulder is a huge draw for these popular backpacks. Especially in travel versions, backpacks are designed with some incredibly useful features to make these packs the most versatile for exploring any area from New York to the Australian Outback. Handy travel backpacks are an excellent option for anyone who often travels or spends a lot of time in the outdoors.

One of the things that sets travel backpacks apart from the more traditional backpack designs is the addition of a daypack. When attached to the entire backpack, the daypack is just another pocket and place to store important items for whatever type of trip you are on. When it is removed, it becomes a small backpack by itself and can be used for a day of hiking while on a longer camping trip or like a fanny pack when touring a specific attraction during a vacation. The hands free convenience of these daypacks is one of the largest positive aspects of the travel backpacks.

Since travel backpacks are designed to stand up to a wide range of locations and activities, many travelers rely on them to be well constructed and ready for the challenges of airports, all terrains, and possible rough treatment at a customs or security check point. Most manufacturers don't disappoint their customers in this area. Travel backpacks are often equipped with lockable zippers for added security and are made of durable nylon to be water resistant and strong. Many models are also made with either a hydration system or water bottle pockets or both. They are designed to provide maximum comfort regardless of where you are using it. Shoulder straps should be padded and wide enough to ensure comfort and many are equipped with a strap to go around the waist eliminating the backpack bouncing uncomfortably on the back.

Travel backpacks are usually made to be stylish as well. There are a large number of colors and designs for the traveler to choose from. Some models are also made in women's sizes to ensure a perfect fit for their smaller frames. Due to the sheer number of different models and designs, finding the right travel backpack for you is just a matter of deciding on specific needs and carefully weighing each of your options. Sporting good store's professionals can be very useful in helping their clients choose the right backpack for them.

Whether spending time in the wild of the woods or in the wilds of an urban city, carrying travel backpacks is a great to comfortably keep track of all of your essentials.

In backpacking, trailers often encounter certain troubles and problems. Some of them are unforeseen, like weather and the wildlife, while some can be easily avoided and prevented from happening.

Planning is the answer to any enjoyable camping trip. The trailers must have a thorough decision and first hand knowledge first in regards to the camp center and other personal considerations.

On the other hand, planning the trip before leaving the house allows trailers to avoid any unnecessary troubles and disadvantages. It can also give them some chances to make a decision regarding the activity proper.

Many trailers may find it hard to get on with a trip because of unexpected occurrences like bad weather, road injuries, or sometimes, overly crowded campsites. By planning, the campers can be very prepared before the trip.

Planning for a backpack trip is very important especially for novice trailers. Here are some tips on how to be organized for the journey.

A. Collect some information about the backpacking trip.

There are different traveling guides, journals, magazines, state tourism schedule, and internet websites that offer information. Those are very important because it provides information that can help in planning the trip. Those things can give the trailers information about the tracks and unfamiliar points to help them in making a decision.

Most of local department stores that sell camping equipment have valuable trip guides. Not only that, many of the stores also provide board and bulletins about weather forecasts, tide tables, conditions of the trail, and other valuable information.

It is also advisable to have proper coordination with some trailers, campers and camp rangers. By doing this, you can pick the best time to go and what equipment may be necessarily needed for that particular locale.

Talking with the camping officials and some backcountry expert can help in backpacking trips. Most of them will love sharing important information about the camping obstacles and other camping related hazards in their area.

B. Compass and Maps can help.

The trip must be easy. With the help of a compass and some maps, the trailers can survey their trip and plan well on their course to take. It will also show not only the roads for the trip but detailed information like basic landforms, ravines, lakes, cliffs and mountains.

Maps and compass help the trailers to predict how challenging and difficult the trip might be. It also shows what certain obstacles they would meet. Most of the obstacles are made of the natural ranges such as lakes, rock faces, swamps and steep mountains that may be needed to climb.

C. Consider the Physical Conditioning

Planning should observe the physical condition of the campers' body. Having a fit body will make the trip easier. Proper exercise such as push-ups, sit-ups, and running extra miles can make the trip easier.

An intensive physical conditioning can help the campers in avoiding trip injuries and troubles. Lack of exercise normally causes pressures, stress and fatigues not to mention injuries.

D. Bring only important gears and equipment.

As much as possible, in planning for a backpacking trip, avoid bringing extra luggage and gears. This will only delay the backpacking trip.

Choosing the right and appropriate gear can be very confusing. There are backpacking magazines, books, journals and some sporting stores can give advice and suggestions.

As an advice, a backpacking trip can be very hard and stressful, but if the trailers know how to handle extra care and is well prepared, this accidents can be avoided. Plan for the best trip and enjoy the serenity and exercise a backpacking trip may offer.

If you are lover of the great outdoors, chances are your dog is too. He loves to go on long walks with you around your neighborhood, or maybe to the local dog park where he can run around with his doggy pals. Perhaps you go on nature adventures with your human friends, camping and hiking in national parks. Wouldn't you love to take your canine buddy with you on these journeys? Well, in certain parks and national forests, you can take your dog with you. And if you want to, you can have your dog help you with the load, too.

A dog backpack is an old idea, almost as old as the domestication of dogs themselves. For as long as dogs have been helping humans in their tasks, there have been people who utilize the dog backpack as a means of having the dog help carry the load, be it groceries or camping equipment. The dog backpack is hardly a new idea, but for those of us who want to take our pets with us camping or hiking, it can be a welcome new addition to our standard camping gear.

Before you purchase a dog backpack, be sure your dog is in good health, because only healthy animals should be helping to lug gear on nature outings. If your dog is full grown and in good shape, then you can go ahead and allow him to carry up to one quarter of his body weight – and for a larger animals, that could equal 15 or 20 pounds that you don't have to carry.

Make sure the dog backpack fits well, because if you've ever had a backpack that doesn't fit properly, you know how uncomfortable that can be. The dog backpack should fit securely around the dog's body, but you should still be able to fit your finger between the strap and the dog's body. Also, be sure to check the fit when your dog lies down, stands up, and sits, because different positions can greatly affect the fit of the dog backpack.

If your pooch doesn't; take to the pack right away, you can train him to enjoy it and associate it with pleasurable activities with you. Reassure him in a happy voice and then place a blanket or towel on his back so he can get used to having weight on his back. Once he is accustomed to this, you can put the dog backpack on him and let him wear it while it is empty. Then you can but small plastic water bottles in the pack so he can learn what it feels like to wear the dog backpack when it is full.

Planning a backpacking trip is just like advanced math (math is my waterloo). A real pain in the gut. You must know the right formulas, right computation and right answers, if not it will end in a disaster.

You got to think of the gear list, buying such stuffs, making research, planning and securing permits.

In backpacking such permits and planning are needed:

1. Permits for different parks

2. Calculate travel dates

3. Plan for re-supply points

4. Figuring out a menu for your meals and foods to buy

5. Figuring out what equipment to buy (and what you already have)

6. Gathering all important contact details for the members of your party

7. Other logistics related to transportation

After carefully doing this, you are still half-away from the trip. You must also think of the proper clothing for a backpacking adventure. This will make you comfortable. Wearing the wrong kinds of clothing will make you suffer in the wilderness. Some tips for the proper clothing are as follows:

1. Research – Educate yourself about the area you'll be visiting. What are day and nighttime temperatures? Is the area prone to storms?

2. Ask – Question people who have been to the area before. Read local guidebooks.

3. Capture warm air – Wear clothing in layers. Multiple layers trap more warm air than a single heavy garment.

4. No-no for cotton – Avoid cotton fabrics, which become cold and clingy when wet, and dry slowly.

5. Dress for comfort and protection – Hike in loose-fitting pants and a shirt in normal, warm conditions. Secured cuffs and leg openings will help protect against ticks. Keep a long-underwear top or fleece jacket handy to put on when you stop.

6. Prevent heat loss – Change out of damp, sweaty clothing when you stop hiking. Dry clothes prevent heat loss from evaporation.

7. Waterproof Yourself – Bring quality, waterproof, breathable rain gear, even when rain is not in the forecast. Wetness causes a loss of body heat and leaves you vulnerable to hypothermia.

8. Protect yourself against the sun – Wear a hat and sunglasses for sun protection. Remember that a cap doesn't do anything for your neck.

9. Dry Feet – Carry an extra pair of socks, and consider using liner socks. Wet feet blister easily. Put your feet in a good pair of hiking boots.

Tips:

* In a desert climate, wear long sleeves, long pants and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.

* A lightweight pair of camp shoes is a great alternative to boots when you've arrived at your destination.

If you're a New Yorker you can try the South Beacon Mountain for you backpacking trip.

Preparation of a backpacking trip might be tiresome but the benefit of being out there is tremendous. A backpacking trip offers fresh air, exceptional scenery, great photography opportunities, friendly guides, great food, and usually camping under the stars at a very reasonable price. Get out and enjoy a backpacking trip. Have fun and learn about ecology and history of an area, its art, architecture, customs, folklore, and natural history. Enjoy the company of other backpackers like yourself as you travel an average of 5 to 10 miles a day on your backpacking trip in the backcountry.

Many campers and hikers enjoy camping with their dogs. In fact, there are many places where you can camp, hike, and experience other outdoor events with your dog. And a lot of these pet toting campers like to have Fido carry part of the gear too ease the stress on their own backs. If you have a large dog and would like to bring him or her with you on your next hiking adventure, then you may want to look into purchasing dog backpacks.

Dogs have been traveling with their owners for as long as there have been domesticated dogs. Sometimes these dogs will wear dog backpacks to help their owners carry a load. When people go to the store, sometimes they will take their dog and have him help to carry the groceries home. Other people will take their dogs on hiking trips or camping outings and then dog backpacks come in handy to carry things like extra water and food for the dog, along with other items.

A healthy dog should be able to carry about one quarter of his body weight in gear on his back. For a large dog, this could be up to 15 or 20 pounds of weight. However, some dogs will not take to their dog backpacks right away, and you may need to train him to wear the pack. Start by laying a towel on the dog's back sop he gets used to having weight on his back. Then let him wear the empty backpack so he can feel the straps on his body. Once he is used to that, any of the dog backpacks that are available should have enough room for two small bottles of water. This will put a little weight in the pack so the dog gets used to having the pack on his back with something in it.

Getting the proper fit for dog backpacks is very important. Just like you, your dog can become very uncomfortable and can even get injured if his pack is not fitted properly. While every pack is different, the same general rules apply to pack fitting. Be sure that the straps are secure and snug, but that they are loose enough to fit a finger between the strap and the dog's body. Be sure to test the fit when your dog is standing, sitting and lying down, as these different positions may change the fit. Some dog backpacks have straps that go behind the dog's elbows, but this is a very sensitive area. Most would recommend finding a brand that makes dog backpacks without these straps.
