The beauty of camper trailers is that if you choose well and buy the best, you'll enjoy the trip, get the comfort that you need, and possibly get most of your investment back once you've finished.

The fun in traveling usually starts on the pre-trip preparations. The decision over the "living quarters" poses the greatest difficulty. Aside from the wide range of camper trailers that can be bought "off the shell" or custom-made to your preference, there are also a lot of new camper options that are coming out in the market such as slide-ons and roof top tents that satisfy the comfort factor with ready-made beds and a compact living solutions. No more bother with setting up airbeds and sleeping bags, all the bedding is stored where it will be used.

Dilemma is, what may be perfect for you is not perfect for the next person, in the same way that, what may be perfect for you today, may not be tomorrow.

Some people argue that towing a trailer for an off-road trip is an inconvenience; however there are a lot of advantages of a camper trailer. Making a good purchase of a camper trailer can overcome this idea of it being an inconvenience.

How do you choose a camper trailer?
When you first start looking for camper trailers, don't easily fall into the trap of making comparisons based on aesthetics and options, rather check on the major components that really set the trailer apart from another. Consider your budget and your growing or diminishing family. Whether you buy or hire a camper trailer, your needs come first and the enjoyment and safety of your trip depends on a perfectly chosen camper trailer.

Major Components
* Chassis
The longevity of your camper trailer's life depends on the quality of the chassis, both materials and construction. Have an extremely robust trailer but keep an eye on the weight. Some manufacturers use box tubing which does not allow twist. It's not necessary to increase the size of the tubing because an increase in wall thickness of the tubing makes the chassis stronger. Be aware that the use of zincseal or zincannel in camper trailers means there is less rusting hence longer life than can be achieved by paint alone.
* Springs and suspension
Springs are important to camper trailers and are often the part that falls when people take trailers into off-road trips, that's why it's wise to consider how to repair or replace a broken spring on a trailer. Be aware of the right springs for the right weight or use of trailer. If over-engineered, the trailer could bounce excessively on some tracks, or if too soft, will "bottom-out" likely breaking the leaves, 6-9 leaf is appropriate. Use of shockers in combination with springs will smooth the ride, but the angle should be right or they will be inefficient.
* Doors/Tailgate
Anything that opens or shuts on your camper trailer has to be dust and waterproof or you're in for a mess when you stop to setup camp. Those who have towed any sort of camper will understand this. To the new ones, it is critical that you look for excellent seals on trailer doors, even for tool boxes. Look for automotive style rubber seal, ideally adjustable sealing locks to allow tighter sealing with use. Doors need to be lockable.
* Tyres / Rims
Although tyres on your camper trailer are not driving wheels, do not accept second rate tyres, for they are the best storage option for spares for the vehicle, so always ensure that they are all the same profile, width and running on the same rims. It's also a driving advantage if you're camper trailer can run in the same way paved by your vehicle in heavy-going 4WD situations, such as sand, mud, ruts, and others.
* Canvas & Awnings
Camper trailer canvas needs to be waterproofed and ideally mildew-proof. The roof and over-trailer canvas has to be heavy-duty for good waterproofing. Look for strong and long lasting flymesh, as some will perish with continuous folding and UV exposure. An awning is an essential addition to your camp to sit under, cook under, and to provide shade, shelter and extended living space.
* Mattresses
The whole point of towing a camper trailer is for the comfort of having a place to sleep. Choose a suitable mattress size for your trailer. A proper sprung mattress will out-way the cost difference with longevity. Most "off the shelf" trailers will only accommodate a foam mattress so check if the travel cover is deep enough for an inner spring mattress.
* Stoneguard
All vehicles flick up stone, when a vehicle is pulling a trailer, the stones often hit the trailer, damaging both the front of the trailer and often rebounding back that could break the vehicle's rear windows. A stone deflector on a camper trailer is advisable to have.
* Trailer Hitch
It is vital to use a coupling that enables almost full 360 degree turning to safely tow a trailer behind a 4WD in off-road conditions. The most popular system is TREG.
* Add Ons
Kitchen
Tool Box
Water tank
Boat rack
12 Volt power
Electric brakes
Bike rack

Knowing how to choose the right camper trailer should come with knowing how much it will cost too. Camper trailers range in design and construction to suit the buyer's needs and budgets which is anything from $8,000 – $25,000.

Outdoor adventure. Extreme sports. Great bonding. Exciting activities. Unforgettable summer. All these and more await campers from different walks of life. It is not just all about amusement but an experience that gives room for learning and growth, to prepare them in the real challenges to be encountered.

Here is a list of grounds in the United Kingdom that are conducive for campers to pitch their tents and stay for an overnight or two.

* Low Wray, Windermere, Lake District

Campers of all ages would love this place because the site has flat grassy areas for larger tents. If you get there early, you can pitch in the wooded corners on the lake shore. It is quiet and secluded with panoramic views of the fells and the sound of the water lapping gently against the shore, on a warm summer's evening. The Drunken Duck pub is within easy walking distance if you fancy a good meal, but you can't beat a barbecue and a few glasses of wine by the lake in the dusk on a balmy twilight.
According to Bolton Roz Kaufman, "I had never camped in my life until 13 years ago when at the age of 40 and sailing on Lake Windermere with my husband, we noticed a magical-looking wooded area with a small beach. It was a paradise to behold". www.nationaltrust.org.uk

* Flamingo Land Holiday Village, North Yorkshire

This is fantastic for campers that arrive by family. The facilities are terrific with a luxury pool across from the pitch area. It is well organized and feels very safe especially for those who have toddlers with them. The play areas are great and within sight of the tents. The shower and laundry areas are well kept. Flamingo Land theme park has everything from fairground rides to a wonderful zoo, all set around a beautiful walk. www.flamingoland.co.uk

* Norman's Bay, Pevensey, East Sussex
If you love the crystal blue waters with white sandy shorelines then this site is suited for you. It can be a bit windy though but nothing compares listening to the sound of the sea at night and seeing the sun rise above the water in the morning. The beach goes on for miles. The site has clean toilets and showers with a small shop. Behind it is a railway line which provides a friendly rumble when the trains pass. Cross at the level crossing and you'll find one of the best pubs in East Sussex, The Star, which has a fabulous menu and an amazing outdoor playground for children. www.ukcampsite.co.uk

* Tom's Field, Langton Matravers, Dorset
A mature site which has plenty of shelter giving campers that utmost privacy and spectacular view of the sea. There are no fancy facilities and the shop has an air of days gone by, which all adds to the rustic charm of the place. The coastal path nearby offers excellent walking opportunities with good pubs in a walking distance. www.tomsfieldcamping.co.uk

* Glanllyn Lakeside, Bala, North Wales
Located on the shores of Lake Bala, in Snowdonia National Park, it offers a lot of watersport activities like parasailing, windsurf, canoeing and kayaking. Campers can even simply mess in and swim. There is a narrow-gauge railway runs beside the lake from Bala to Llanuwchllyn. The Tryweryn National Whitewater Centre, acclaimed for its rafting and canoeing, is five miles away. Great cycle rides can be started from the site. It is also well situated for hill walkers, as it isclose to the foot of mountains such as Aran Benllyn and Cader Idris. www.glanllyn.com

The kitchen is accessed from the rear of the trailer and depending on the model can have a single shelf or pull-out for a stove or have a complete kitchen hidden under the bonnet. With minimal setup required, the kitchen works especially well for a quick meal at a roadside rest area, a tailgate party at a sporting event or as a "chuck-wagon" when camping.

When you own a teardrop, you are towing a little piece of history into the camper.

Teardrop campers are compact trailers providing necessities of a sleep- in cabin and kitchen without the fuss and hassle of either towing a caravan or putting up a tent. It can comfortably sleep two people and is the perfect companion for the long weekend.

These mini-caravans were first introduced in the 1930s and became popular right after World War II. Teardrop campers got its name from its streamlined design. Due to its small size and light weight, it allows easy towing on automobiles such as a VW Bug, PT Cruiser or Trike.

Do you want to have a share of history of the teardrop campers? In March or April of 1939, an issue of Popular Homecraft ran a story of what was then considered the "little new invention". It was built by Louis Rogers of Pasadena, California for his honeymoon coach. The 8'x4' floor plan was on tongue-and-groove flooring on a pine chassis. Rogers used a Chevrolet front axle with 28" wheels and 1926 Chevrolet rear fenders. Sides and top were enclosed with 1/8" hard pressed board sealed with varnish.

His creation accommodated two individuals and had the raise-up deck lid for the rear kitchenette with ice box and stove. There was a curtain-enclosed dressing room outside the starboard entry door that provided privacy when changing clothes.

In February of 1940, Popular Mechanics wrote an article about plans making egg-shaped teardrop campers. It was built on a 1924 Chevrolet Superior front axle with disk wheels from a 1930 Chevrolet. The floor was of tongue-and-groove oak over a spruce chassis. The exterior was 1/8" pressed board sealed with varnish. This 9'x5'9-1/2" floor plan featured a pressurized water tank with running water to a sink, a stove and ice box in the rear kitchenette. The cabin provided standing room beside the double bed for dressing, a small clothes closet, a chemical toilet and a single entry door on the starboard side.

By October 1945, C.W. Worman and Andy Anderson formed Kit Manufacturing Co. in an abandoned fruit stand on Telegraph Road in Norwalk, California. It was for the purpose of producing teardrop camper trailers of their own label.

It was at this time that a third party, Dan Pocapalia, became interested in the project. Worman and Pocapalia had been friends and co-workers at Vultee Aircraft in Norwalk during the war. Dan Pocapalia purchased Andy Anderson's half-interest in Kit Manufacturing Co. for $800. The two of them then had a building, a dream and 60 Fulton trailer hitches. Worman and Pocapalia soon learned that what the public wanted was not a kit, but a completed trailer. They made the decision to produce the complete form of teardrop campers. Pocapalia took responsibility for redesigning the trailer to make it easier to assemble with less waste of raw materials. Worman took on the job of material procurement.

At midyear 1946, Pocapalia and Worman decided to upgrade the model by adding a second door and fiberglass fenders as well as a 10 gallon water tank, chrome yoke and other cosmetics, including a butane stove with a Manchester butane bottle. They ended up with two models, the "Standard" and a "Super Deluxe" with the second door fenders and a dealer cost of $595.

At this point, teardrop campers remain to be a popular type of vehicle for camping especially for the couples out on a honeymoon.

Have you ever dreamed of a vacation on the go, where you just travel wherever you want yet bring with you the convenience, comfort and beauty of your home? A vacation where you just go on your own pace taking all the time to stay and look at a beautiful spot for sunset? Well, you may be dreaming of a travel on wheels, a trailer camper, where there's no need for the rush to get to place you want and not find a hotel because it's in the middle of nowhere. Imagine the comfort of travel without worry and stress of inflexible schedules, advance reservations, long lines, overbooking, and lost luggage. Or what about no flights to catch, no security hassles, no hauling of heavy bags in and out of costly hotel rooms. Yes, there's no place like home, especially if you can bring home with you wherever you go and whenever you want.

One of the best trailer campers that can be found available today is the TrailManor trailer camper. TrailManor expandable trailer camper is ideal for people who want to step up from the tent trailer, but don't want the difficulty of a conventional travel trailer. Here are some features of the TrailManor trailer camper that makes it one of the best travel trailers in the market today.

What to look for in a trailer camper

Easy Towing
The light weight and low profile makes TrailManor trailer camper easier and safer to tow, plus you get better gas mileage. That makes this trailer camper an ideal choice for today's smaller vehicles, including 6-cylinder SUV's, pickups, and even minivans. The unique TrailManor design gives you the easy towing of a tent camper, plus features you'd expect to find only in upright travel trailers. TrailManor trailer camper provides uniquely easy towing per pound due to the very low wind drag and the very stable ride resulting from axle placement.

Easy Setup
You can open and close a TrailManor trailer camper in the rain without everything inside getting wet. It's as easy as opening a car trunk, no cranks or cables. First you release the latches that keep the trailer secure for towing. Then an easy pull opens the top sections. These are especially counter balanced, so it's as simple as opening a car trunk.You have permanent beds, but you don't have to wrestle with bed supports, because they pull out automatically. You get more time to relax, because it takes almost no time to set up. In fact, you can set up a TrailManor trailer camper in as little as two minutes. Its innovative system of opening is reliable and comes with a warranty.

More Comfort
Features include a hardwall bathroom with tub, a complete kitchen, a luxurious interior, and hardwall construction for security and comfort (no canvas bedrooms). You can camp in comfort and luxury. The highly-insulated walls keep you warmer in winter and cooler in the summer.

Fits in a garage
Imagine being able to store a full-sized travel trailer in your garage, you can also choose the patented swing-around tongue which reduces storage length by two feet.The 26-foot models fit neatly into a 17 1/2-foot garage.

When shopping for a trailer camper, always look into details, easy towing, easy setup, more comfort, and fits in the garage are important factors that you should consider in deciding what type of trailer camper to choose. There are many trailer campers in the market today, all you need to do is know how to choose and decide.

Often referred to as truck tops and cab extenders, camper shells are the ones attached to a pickup vehicle's bed to create cargo space that is protected from the weather and secured from theft. This also helps in improving fuel efficiency especially that the price of a barrel of crude oil in the world market has inflated. This is done by enhancing the aerodynamics of the pickup vehicle.

Camper shells are either made out of fiberglass or aluminum. The difference is that aluminum tops are from a standard mold that do not contour around and sold at a $400 price range. In the otherhand, fiberglass tops are from a custom mold specifically designed for the manufacturer and model. It is sold at around $1, 000 that comes painted to match the color of the pickup vehicle.

There are four considerations before purchasing camper shells:
* These are relatively heavy and difficult to remove and replace on a frequent basis. It even takes two people to install it on the pickup vehicle. However, there are creative owners that have devised ways to store and hoist the camper shells by themselves.

* Consider the lift system that is built into the truck top itself. Most truck beds were not designed to have constant 200 pounds of pressure pushing or pulling on the front corners of the bed, so the cap's lift system plays an important role. For example, there are gas props that add pressure to the truck bed. Some manufactures have built-in systems to their truck tops alleviating the pressure from the props, thus extending the life of the truck bed and framework of the truck top.

* Determine which features you would like to add as options to the standard truck top. You can choose from third brake lights, gas-assisted shocks, interior dome lights. tempered safety glass, paint finish, rear window packages, clothes rod, carpeted interior, style of trim, power locks, windshield wiper, defrost system, spoilers, air deflectors, side access doors, utility racks and roof mounted racks.

* Finally, you'll want to select from a manufacturer that makes a custom fit for your particular vehicle make and model. While the majority manufactured today will fit most in every model but, there are some that does not.

There are also two types of camper shells namely hard cover and soft cover. Hard covers wont blow off even at highway speeds but are available with hinge systems for easy lift. It provides better security because it is lockable. It is also completely waterproof so you need not worry when there is a heavy rain. In the otherhand, soft covers provide less rigid top. However, some are sturdy enough for 1-2 people to stand on it and can even support 12 inches of wet snow with ease. These come with adjusters that allows one to select the tension desired.

Camper awnings are those secondary covering attached to the exterior wall. It is typically composed of canvas or acrylic cloth that is stretched lightly over a light structure of aluminum, iron, steel or wood. The configuration of this structure is something of a truss, space frame and planar frame.

Those that are easy to set- up and light on the budget are designed for the first-time recreational vehicle (RV) owners. It has the looks, strength and dependability you are asking for. Before you place a call to order any of the camper awnings, having the following information in hand is very important.

How to get the camper awnings' measurements when replacing exisitng?
* First, determine the length and width of the existing fabric with the canopy fully opened. The length should be measured from the roller tube to awning rail. Do not include include the hardware and valance in these measurements. The width measurement is the distance between the center line tocenter line of the hardware. With the canopy fully extended, you should find a product tag on the roller tube.

How to install the new camper awnings?
* Measure the width to the nearest foot by looking at where the hardware will be mounted. As you measure for the width, make sure that the installed hardware and canopy will not interfere with doors, windows and compartments. Envision how the unit will open once installed. Study how the hardware will be screwed in to make sure that it will be screwed in at a point that is well supported. There is also a need to measure for the length and height of the hardware. This measurement should be from the rail at the top of the vehicle to the floor level where you will need to fasten the arms.

How to order camper awnings?
* You will need appropriate fabric, roller, arms and rafters for a complete unit. These items are sold under separate part numbers. Remember that each recreational vehicle has its own specialized type. The kinds of RV's are as follows: motor home, travel trailer, folding camper and truck camper. There are several sorts of camper awnings such as the patio which has fiesta, simplicity and freedom; companion which has window, SL window and truckin'; and slideout which has summit, kover II and omega II.

Thousands of companies are doing business on camp accessories. Because the competition is fierce, you can get great deals on multiple buys or even deep discounts on just one. You can call around to local installers to find out what their specials are and compare the savings around town. Simply stated, camper awnings can make a wonderful addition to nearly any RV for that matter.

Jayco Campers is one of United States' largest manufacturers of recreational vehicles. It is nestled in the Amish country of Middlebury, Indiana. It develops a comprehensive selection of camping trailers, travel trailers, fifth wheels, class C, motorhomes and sport utility automobiles. All of those are under the brand names of Jay Flight, Eagle, Designer, Jay Feather EXP, Jay Feather LGT, Talon ZX, Greyhawk, Granite Ridge, Seneca HD and Escapade.

The wide selection of recreational vehicles from Jayco Campers are marketed and serviced through a nationwide network of nearly 300 dealers in every state of America and even in the provinces of Canada.

Its goal in Jayco Campers is to be a company that operates according to the Golden Rules. It searches for fresh ideas and new ways to ensure customer satisfaction before and after sale. Its computer- aided design capabilities and state- of- the- art equipment have enabled Jayco Campers to achieve one product breakthrough after another, simplifying and enhancing RV- living.

Before the company reached the zenith of their success, it also had its own share of humble beginnings. Jayco Campers was founded in 1968 by the late Lloyd Bontrager, both a family- man and inventor who felt that he could build the world a better recreational vehicle. From then on, he was longing to put up a company that clearly reflected hi ideals.

With much pat at the back by his wife Bertha, Lloyd started Jayco Campers on their farm with two chicken houses and a barn. He developed his own prototype camping trailer and a unique lifter system for fold-down campers, the basic design of which is patented and still in use today. By the end of 1968, his fledgling company of 15 employees had sold 132 fold-down camping trailers. Today, Jayco's "family" of employees has grown to nearly 1,500 people, while more than 25,000 people join their "extended family" of customers each year.

Jayco Campers never tire in generating a novel line of recreational vehicles. As of 2006, there are three models of camping trailers under the names of Baja, Select and Jay Series. Two for travel trailers under Eagle and Jay Flight. Fifth Wheels won't allow to be left behind with three more under Jay Flight, Eagle and Designer. Class C motorhomes definitely have a lot with six additions under Escapade, Greyhawk, Granite Ridge, Seneca HD, Seneca ZX and Seneca HG. On the road sport utility trailers have three with Talon ZX travel trailer, Talon ZX fifth wheel and Octane ZX travel trailer brands. Expandable travel trailers only have one under Jay Feather EXP and two for lightweight travel trailers under Jay Feather LGT and Jay Feather Sport.

That is why they are called such because it should be aptly regarded as indispensable. Some will even tag along their "extra baggages". Outdoor adventure is also much willing to fall in line. So let us take a peek at some of the camper accessories and get acquainted with those materials because pretty soon, you will plan your own.

Exterior Camper Accessories:
* Awning is a secondary covering attached to the exterior wall. It is typically composed of canvas or acrylic cloth that is stretched lightly over a light structure of aluminum, iron, steel or wood. The configuration of this structure is something of a truss, space frame and planar frame.

* Tent is a shelter consisting of sheets of fabric or other material draped over or attached to a frame of poles or ropes. Some tent styles are free- standing, while others are attached to the ground using guy ropes tied to stakes or pegs.

* Hubcap is sometimes called mud flaps or wheel covers. It is a decorative disk on an automobile wheel that covers at least a central portion of the tire. Cars with stamped steel wheels often use a full wheel cover that conceals the entire wheel. Cars with alloy wheels or styled steel wheels generally use smaller ones.

* Trailer is an unpowered vehicle pulled by a powered vehicle. Some distinguish trailer that is generally uncovered that is used for goods and materials or from a caravan that is weather- resistant used for human habitation.

Interior Camper Accessories
* Insulation is any material used to reduce or resist the flow of energy. There are several types of insulators: thermal insulators reduce the flow of heat, electrical insulators reduce the flow of electricity and acoustical insulators reduce the flow of sound.

* Knob refers to movable control used to change the settings of the controlled instrument such as that of the automobile for outdoor camping.

* Steering wheel is type of steering control used in most modern land vehicles, including all mass- production automobiles. It is part of the steering system that is manipulated by the driver, the rest of the rest of the steering system responds to the movements of it.

* Storage units are any of those used for safekeeping of any of the materials that will be brought for outdoor camping. One of it is the cup holder which is useful for those who love to sip hot coffee or slurp cold soda especially on the road to the site. It prevents any form of spillage.

Having all of these interior and exterior camper accessories goes to show that you are all set for the adventure awaiting on the outskirts of the bustling metropolis.

Owning an RV camper is definitely a luxury. It requires one to shell out hoe many bucks of money. However, there are now alternatives for to you enjoy the comforts it offer through renting it as like it is your very own.

Cruise America ranks as the largest RV camper rental firm that has started since it 1972 and still fully operational at this time. It is a family- owned company founded by a Florida native Robert Smalley Sr. Its headquarters is located in Mesa, Arizona. They have 18 company stores and around 130 commissioned dealer outlets in the North America region.

Their fleet of class C RV campers today are manufactured by Elkhart, Ind.-based Four Winds International Corp. It is a subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc. In April 2004, Cruise America joined Four Winds' management and employees in saluting the completion of the Thor division's 25,000th mini motorhome. In doing so, the Arizona rental leader introduced a new line of rental units bearing graphics that depict "the American Spirit," including eye-catching illustrations of such landmarks as the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore and the Golden Gate Bridge.

These are the features of RV campers from Cruise America that are for rentals:

* Compact RV camper
A Cruise America exclusive. We start with a powerful, easy to drive, pickup truck with bench seating accommodating two adults comfortably. To this pickup truck, we have mounted a spacious motorhome coach (not a camper), similar to a wide body motorhome. The coach has the usual queen size cabover bed, a living room couch, dinette, full kitchen with microwave, and roomy rear bath area. Length is 22' to 24' that can accommodate a family of 4.

* Large RV Camper
A traditional motorhome with the self-contained features you expect, including most with a power generator in the USA. This economical family unit is a traditional favorite for those who want the walk-through convenience of a motorhome. Length is 28' to 30' that can accommodate a family of 7.

* Trailer RV Camper
This is a new addition to Cruise America. You just have to have your tow vehicle and pay a daily rental rate 25% less than the actual cost. There are no mileage charges if you want to head to the races, tailgate, weekend escapes or whatever that is. It sleeps up to 5 persons equipped with a generator.

* Fun Mover RV Camper
This is a versatile motorhome with a garage in the back, to haul your sport "toys", personal belongings, or wares. FunMovers come with a hydraulic lift or use your ramp to load the garage. The living quarters up front contain standard self contained motorhome amenites. Cruise America also offers a special design, ADA friendly FunMover rental vehicle. They are equipped with a wheelchair accessible entry via a rear power lift gate, a single bed is located in the rear compartment and the doors to the rear living space and bathroom are wider. Assist handles are installed in the bathroom. An able-bodied travel companion is required to operate some of the systems including the power lift. Vehicles are not to be used for emergency or other medical transportation.

If you think that owning a pop- up camper will entirely brush off those rugged outdoor experiences, then better think twice. You might have all the facilities you ever wanted right inside that RV but still there are those that will cause a problem or two. Those are the things that have not been written in the manual guide then you end up discovering for yourself that this and that should have been here and there. Well, as they say, experience is the best teacher. You will never ascend to another level if you would not go through mistakes.

Now, here are some clever advices for those using a pop- up camper from Mike Bentley, webmaster of www.popupcamping.com.

* Watch out for the tenting on the glide- out dinette or if the beds do not slide easily, there has to be a good reason.

Mike Bentley came close to destroying the clear vinyl windows on the glide out when he was attempting to fold the trailer for the first or second time. He said, "Gee, this bed does not want to go in, does it?" The next time he opened up the unit, he noticed grease stains on the glide- out canvas and distortion on the vinyl windows.
For a pop- up camper trick, make sure the glide out tenting is pulled away from the beds before sliding them in or out. If the beds don't slide in easily, stop and take a look.

* That little water connector where the outside shower hose connects to the faucet is as strong as a twig.

Mike Bentley found out that the outside shower hose was kinked. Since the water did not come out, he straightened the hose and snapped it. That was a pop- up camper trick he just did.
However, if that comes up, the warranty will always cover a replacement.

* Even if you are on an incline, the pop- up camper trick is to chock the front and back of the trailer wheels.

Mike Bentley was setting up a unit in front of his house. He used a wood block under the wheel closest to the curb to compensate for the "crown" in the road to make the trailer leveled. The road in his house is a little steep so he utilized the tongue jack he had. As soon as he raised the coupler off of the ball, the trailer lurched forward uphill. It impaled the coupler into the plastic bumper of his minivan. The problem there was that the curb wheel was on the block but it was too close to the front of the block. It rolled right off as soon as the coupler was free.

If your type of recreational vehicle is a Volkswagen then look no further because VW Camper has it all covered, just for you.
VW Camper and Commercial was established in 2000, the same year that marked the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the Volkswagen Transporter, with the strapline "For those who live their life with a van."

Aside from highlighting and celebrating the VW camper bus, in all its forms, the magazine caters for all things bus related. It has 'How To' features that focuses on subjects from fitting a sunroof or Dormobile elevating roof through to replacing panels and sills. It will bring you from one wildlife adventure to another or simply, a respite away from the bustling metropolis.

'Archive', in the otherhand, are stories that trace back the development and history of particular models such as the Samba, Pick Up or Camping Conversions ranging from Devon to Sundial. The 'Bus Doctor' is ever ready to help out with technical queries, even with news and products, that will keep you updated with bus related accessories and goodies as well as what's new on the scene.

Each issue features top quality buses, from across all generations, to inspire and admire. Whether your passion is for Splitty, Bay or T25, VW Camper and Commercial will bring you the best around and not just from the show circuit. Many of its features are buses restored by their owners to be used as daily drivers, and you don't have to have spent loads with certain names to be featured. They also recognize and profile the T4 and T5. Profile different interior layouts used by converters like Danbury, Devon, Westfalia or Viking and looks into feature interiors designed by its owners.

The editor, David Eccles, has owned a VW camper since taking one overland to India back in 1976. He has owned his current 1967 Devon Camper since 1978. For many years every summer was spent travelling and camping in the bus with his family, both at home and abroad.
He has written for various magazines ranging from Total VW to Practical Motorhomes and is the author of "VW Transporter and Microbus – Specifications and Modifications 1950 – 1967". Currently, he is writing a new book about the various camping on- versions and interior lay- outs that traces changes and models from 1951 through to the present day.

Aside from driving his own and writing all about a VW Camper, Eccles is also Head of English at an inner city comprehensive school.
Their latest Summer and Spring 2006 issue features the '59 Deluxe Devon, Atlantic Crossing and '72 Dormobile. It also looks into another vehicle entitled "More Bling Than Beckham".

VW Camper & Commercial is definitely the magazine for those who live their life with a Volkswagen van. If you drive a Type 2 then this is for you.
