Would like to enjoy the same great tasting food you do at home while you are out camping? Camping recipes can allow you to prepare good meals while being faced with the limitations that cooking in the outdoors brings. Nothing can match the satisfying taste of a great meal prepared over the campfire. Depending on what type of equipment you have, camping recipes will allow you to a big, hot meal or a simple snack that requires only minimum preparation.

If you have skillets to bring along on your camping trip, some great camping recipes to try out are ones that involve sauteeing, such as fajitas or stir fry. These recipes use great fresh ingredients that are nutritious and are easy to prepare. Also, if you do some preparation at home before you leave, such as cutting up your vegetables, your cooking job at the campsite will be even easier. Bringing a simple grill with you to place over the campfire makes a great place to prepare a hearty steak or other meal of meat to fuel you during your time outdoors. Other recipes, such as an apple, peanut better and jelly sandwich don't even require a fire, but can be just a fulfilling.

It is important to eat nutritious meals while you are out camping. Many campers will be participating in activities such as fishing, hiking and boating that will require energy. To keep going throughout the day, it is especially important to eat a healthy breakfast. Some good foods to take with you camping that will provide energy and do not require complicated preparation or refrigeration include: granola, apples, bananas, trail mix, beef jerky, bagels, grapes, celery, oatmeal, beans and peanut butter.

Following is one of many quick and simple camping recipes that also offers a nutritious, energy-providing meal. You can prepare the stew at home and freeze it to warm up later over the campfire, or prepare it at your campsite.

* Peel and cube 2 large potatoes
* Clean and slice 2 large carrots
* Peel and chop 2 onions
* Place vegetables in a large coffee can with some oil and seasoning of your choice, such as chili seasoning or Tony's
* Put 1 pound or ground hamburger on top and season again
* Place the can in the campfire coals and leave for about 45 minutes
* Stir the contents and serve

When you are camping and cooking, get creative. Try a few of your favorite recipes from home over the campfire. Some simple alterations can make these at-home recipes transferable to the outdoors. Also, great sources for camping recipes are easily available in recipe books or online.

The American Camping Association is now known as is slightly different than the American Camp Association and is designed to cover the sharing of knowledge and information about camp programs in America. The American Camping Association is comprised of campers and outdoors professionals that are qualified in determining the positives and negatives of a camp experience and relaying that information to the general public using a set of criteria and solid information management.

The American Camping Association website offers plenty of useful information about the various ventures in which the ACA is involved, including sending kids to camp and the designation of camp sites for repairs and other operational procedures.

If the bureaucracy of the ACA does not interest you, there is still plenty of other solid information on the site about the various experiences you can have as a camper in America. You can find out how to prepare for severe weather conditions like hurricanes and tornadoes, find out about upcoming camp events and browse their message boards.

Improving the Camp Experience

The goal, in a nutshell, of the ACA through its website and other implements is to improve the camp experience for Americans. The focus is primarily on children and their camping experience in organized camping sites and programs that are specifically offered for an age group.

The ACA has been conducting this sort of service for close to one hundred years and has a good supply of ideas contributed by thousands of professionals dedicated to improving the camp experience as a whole and getting more Americans out in the wilderness with their families.

The American Camping Association considers itself to be the leading authority in child development and, with this designation, is committed to providing safe and nurturing experiences for children when they go to camp. They are also concerned with the provision of helpful adult role models, developmentally-appropriate experiences for campers, and personal growth opportunities. It is clear with this information that the ACA is not just concerned with the improvement of America's camp sites.

Mission Statement

The American Camping Association has a mission statement of "Enriching Lives, Changing the World" and vows to accomplish this mission with the help of their staff and thousands of volunteers. The ACA is dedicated to valuing people and their differences and helps to put together several camp programs that celebrate these differences and bring people together through the outdoors.

So, you've gone out and gotten yourself an RV and are ready to hit the roads to see some far off place. Maybe the Rockies, maybe Death Valley, maybe Temecula, California. Temecula? That's right: there's plenty to see in Temecula, and what's more, it is a good place to use as a home base for visitors who want to see both San Diego and LA. Plus, Temecula RV camping is one of the most affordable ways to see the Golden State.

Temecula RV camping takes place mostly at four or five RV parks in the greater Temecula area. These are Lake Skinner Maria, Outdoor Resorts, Tucalota Springs RV Park, and Vail Lake Resort. Each offers differing amenities, and you should contact them for rates to see which best suits your needs.

Once you have a place to stay during your Temecula RV camping trip, you can start planning where you want to visit in the city itself. While you may not have heard of Temecula's wines, they are acquiring a bigger and bigger name for themselves. The region around the city is especially suited to warmer grape varietals, such as the charismatic and fruity zinfindels that characterize local production, and its wines are well worth exploring for the aficionado and novice alike. Because the area is lower key than Napa and Santa Ynez, it has a more honest, down to earth feel. Visitors are advised to check the Temecula Wine Grower's Association before the Temecula RV camping trip for up to date information on tastings and the like.

If you are a dyed in the wool shopper, then taking your RV to Temecula has its benefits as well. The city has constructed a large shopping complex with various restaurants, a movie theatre, and tons of shops for you to peruse. It's an excellent way to one of your days Temecula RV camping.

Another sure to be popular destination in Temecula is the Splash Canyon Water Park. Currently under constructed in 2006, and slotted to be completed in 2007 the theme park will boast multiple slide and raft rides, tide pools, and sun bathing facilities to add a bit of fun in the sun to your Temecula RV camping experience.

Of course, one of the reasons for choosing Temecula as the home base for your California trip is that it is centrally located between San Diego, Los Angeles, and Orange County. So, by staying in one of the parks in Temecula, you can make day trips into LA or to the beaches of San Diego, and then come back to Temecula to rest.

For many of us, it's hard to imagine camping without a campfire. But unless you need it for heat, you might not need to go to the trouble of building one anymore. This is because camping stoves have gotten to a point that they are so small, safe, and easy to use that you just might choose their small, useful cooking power over that of a campfire. Not to mention the fact that in many campsites and national forest campgrounds, campfires are considered safety hazards and are prohibited. So camping stoves are a great substitution for your cooking needs in those cases.

Camping stoves, or portable stoves, are designed to be compact and lightweight in order to make them convenient and easy to carry. There are four basic categories of camping stoves, depending on the type of fuel that the stove uses. The most basic stoves are single burner stoves that don't have any controls on them. They use a solid or liquid fuel that is put in the burner before it is lit. Other stoves have single burners as well but instead use a liquid fuel that is compressed into a tank, the top of which is the burner mechanism. Still other stoves use gas. They have one or more burners and also have controls to regulate the amount of gas being burned and the height of the flame, just like a gas stove in your kitchen. The last kind of stoves use spirits that drip down into the priming pan due to gravity. They actually have mostly been replaced by gas stoves because they are easier to transport, but these stoves also have a very low risk of causing a fire.

One of the problems with camping stoves is that their flames are vulnerable to the elements – particularly wind. Even if the wind doesn't completely extinguish a burner's flame, it could cause it to decrease in size or to become uneven in it's placement against the cooking vessel, either of which would reduce the effectiveness of the stove. So when looking at camping stoves, you'll want to consider whether or not a model has a built in wind shield. You may have to purchase a slightly larger (or less collapsible) model in order to get this feature, but it will help reduce frustration when you're actually cooking with it. Many campers will try to create their own wind shield, a practice that can be very dangerous. If the wind changes directions or strength, the material being used might get blown against the burner flame and ignite. However, aluminium foil is a relatively safe material that can be used to shield if needed.

Are you interested in taking a camping vacation with your romantic partner, your friends, or your family? If you are, have you already started planning your camping vacation? If you have yet to start planning your camping vacation, you may want to think about doing so soon.

Although it is nice to know that you should think about planning your camping vacation in advance, you may be wondering exactly why you should do so. In all honesty, you will find that there are a number of different reasons as to why you should start planning your next camping vacation in advance, as well as a number of benefits to doing so. Just a few of those many reasons and benefits are outlined for you below.

Planning your camping vacation in advance will help to ensure that you are able to get a reservation. Camping is a popular activity, especially during the spring and summer months. What does this mean for you? It means that you are likely one of hundreds of people in and around your area who are also interested in having a fun filled camping vacation, possibly even at the same time as you. Unfortunately, many campgrounds are limited on the amount of space that they have. To ensure that you are able to get a camping vacation reservation, you will want to make your plans in advance.

In addition to getting a reservation, planning your camping vacation in advance may also help you get a better camping spot. What many individuals do not know is that many campgrounds allow their campers to choose which specific locations they would like to camp at. By viewing a map of the campground in question, you may find that the perfect camping spot is located next to a lake or one that is close to a hiking trail. With that in mind, however, it is important that you know that the longer you wait to make your camping vacation reservations, the less "prime," camping locations you will have to choose from.

Planning your next camping vacation in advance will also give you more time to prepare for it. For instance, what type of foods would you like to bring on your next camping adventure or what type of games would you like to play? These are questions that you should ask yourself, as it may make it easier for you to prepare for your vacation. By making your camping vacation reservations in advance, you can determine, ahead of time, whether or not the campground has a lake, hiking trails, or electricity. This can make it much easier to prepare for your next camping vacation, as well as ensure that you have all needed camping supplies and camping equipment pieces.

It is also important to mention having a memorable experience. Planning your next camping vacation in advance is likely to make your experience a more memorable one. As it was previously mentioned, when you plan your camping vacation in advance, you are better able to ensure that you have all of the needed camping supplies and you may possibly even be able to even handpick your camping spot. This is likely to improve your camping trip.

The above mentioned reasons are just a few of the many reasons why you should think about planning your next camping vacation in advance. In all honesty, only good can come from doing so.

If you have ever been rustic camping, you would know then it is hard on the back. Sitting on the ground just isn't for the people who are starting to feel their aches and pains. This is part of the problem why some people quit going out and enjoying their time out in nature. You can make this situation better on yourself by bringing yourself along a camping chair, and this will provide more support for your back and make it more comfortable to enjoy the evening.

Your camping chair will usually have a spot in one of the arms, or even both, for placing your beverage down. You can even get matching tables to go with your camping chair, so you can rest your belongings on a safe surface. Camping chairs are made to be sturdy and are made out of a material that is tough and often water-resistant. For the most part, your camping chair looks very similar to a director's chair, only camping chairs are often made out of metal and directors chairs can also be made out of wood.

Your Camping Chair Is More Comfortable Around the Campfire.

Every actor and child on this earth seems to give off the impression of the ghastly stories being told around the Campfire. Yet, as our bodies grow older, and our muscles grow weaker, we can't seem to find the interest in listening to these ghastly tales as long as we used to. We have to get up, stretch, walk around in pain and then decide it's time to hit the sack.

Now you can sit around the campfire on your camping chair, and be able to listen to the stories you have been missing out on. The campfire is the main ingredient to spending time out in the wilderness, and so many wonderful thoughts and viewpoints are shared there.

Get More Back Support With A Camping Chair

Back support while you are camping is important if you don't want to end up feeling crippled by day number three. You get more back support with your camping chair and allows for more enjoyment of your evenings.

Your back must be balanced with the spine in order for the rest of your body to maintain it's balance, so it only makes sense you should be sitting in a camping chair the next time you go camping.

There are no set rules when it comes to camping gear or the equipment needed to go camping. Actually, it depends upon a number of factors – the weather at the time you propose to go camping, the camping style you wish to adopt, the amenities available at the camping site, and the duration of your trip. However, taking along the right kind of weather gear or equipments is vital to successful and fun camping.

Camping Gear – The Essentials:
There are some essential things that you just cannot dispense with if you are planning on camping. This includes items such as tents, sleeping bags, clothes including towels, cooking ware, plates, lighting and fire making devices, foodstuff, knives, soaps, toothbrushes and toothpastes, and a first aid kit. Irrespective of the type of camping you propose to undertake, you must not omit any of these items.

However, these are the bare minimum items that any camper – howsoever adventurous – must take along. But the realistic lists of items needed to go camping vary greatly. Read on for a quick view.

Items Required For Family Camping:
If you are planning on going camping with your family, expect the number of items required to expand greatly. This is because the moment kids come into the picture you simply cannot afford to ignore their comfort. Not only because you genuinely care for them, but also to avoid a good deal of whining and complaining! So take care to include proper cooking ware, folding chairs, and cots in the essentials. Children may find sleeping and sitting on hard ground too uncomfortable. You may also consider taking along a cooler for cold foods and drinks. You will also need to have a good stock of bottled water. It shall not be needed, however, if potable water is available at the camping site.

Items Needed For Protection From Weather:
While finalizing the list of take-along items to go camping, it is extremely important to take into consideration the weather. If you are planning to camp in summer and nights are also expected to be moderate, you would require minimal clothing, simple tents (inexpensive ones) and sleeping bags. In case, there is a possibility of rain or drop in night temperature, make it a point to procure solid, waterproof tents and add warm clothing to your list. Opt for sleeping bags with padding inside.

If you have plans to camp in winter and it snows at site, you would need special tents that provide you extra warmth. Also, your sleeping bags should be designed to keep you warm. Obviously, you will require the kind of clothes, gloves, socks, and shoes that obviate the possibility of frostbite.

Advice For The Rough Campers:
First, accept your limitations. Don't get carried away by adventurous stories. Getting lost in wilderness without adequate food and clothing can prove fatal. If you do have enough stamina and knowledge of the area where you propose to rough it out, never make the mistake of precluding the essentials. Camping or otherwise, your safety is of paramount importance.

A camping resort is a little bit more expensive than the usual types of camping trips, but then again, the benefits that come with the package are exceptional. You get full access all day long to hunting and fishing, then get to return to a hot meal that has been prepared for you. A camping resort is designed to keep your comfort in mind and be more of a vacation spot than just a camping spot.

Picture the beautiful autumn leaves, hanging in colors of red, yellow and orange and the beautiful sunshine beaming down on a chilly, fall day. This picture alone you are painting inside of your mind is well worth the time and money you spend at a camping resort.

Sportsmen and Outdoorsman Can Enjoy The Thrill Of The Hunt At Some Camping Resorts.

Sportsmen and outdoorsman, especially if they are from the city, tend to flock to camping resorts during hunting seasons. They are often taken out into the wilderness by a guide, and are fully set up in a fully baited blind. They will then help the novice hunter to get the first thrill he will experience while staying at the camping resort.

Camping resorts don't just involve water-skiing and volleyball; they also represent the future of our great outdoorsmen. The people who wish to go to a completely stunning, and yet mysterious area of the world often put a camping resort on their must list topic-to-do list.

Relax in the Comfort Of A Real Bed, and the Luxury Of Cooked Meals

Camping resorts can be a costly trip, but you will be happy with your decision when you are lying in a nice, soft, warm bed and watching television. Some resorts don't always have electricity, but all camping resorts come equipped with the essentials you need to enjoy your camping weekend.

Sit Around Stuffed Wall Mounts and Tell Stories Of That Awesome Hunt.

At a camping resort, it is nothing to hear men talking about the great adventures they dealt with both right now and from long times past. These stories creep through the walls and into the ears and hearts of the spectators who are listening. We all hear about these tall tales that are told every night by the campfire, but we all wish it were us who was able to tell that awesome story. That's why we try to live the adventure and spend our vacation at a camping resort.

If you still picture camping tents as being made of canvas and requiring a good bit of pole setting and staking, then you're in for a bit of a surprise when it comes to the camping tents that you can readily find today. From cocoon like miniature tents that are just big enough for your sleeping bag to large room sized tents that can fit the whole family, the kind of tent that you select is just like any other piece of camping equipment that you might purchase – it just depends on the kind of camping that you plan on doing.

First, start by considering where and when you plan on using your tent. Many tents are rated by the number of seasons that they are designed to withstand. For example, four season tents are those that are more durable, wind and cold resistant so that they can be used in severe winter conditions. Other camping tents may be rated as three seasons, meaning that they are not best for use in severe cold. Read the information provided by the manufacturer in the product description to determine what weather conditions it is best for.

Beyond the weather conditions, you'll find a wide variety in the sizes and types of features that are available. If you are a single traveller or are camping with someone that you don't mind sharing intimate quarters with and you want to carry as light a load as possible, then consider the bivouac type of camping tents. These are simple, cocoon type shelters that basically provide an extra layer of protection by creating a sheath that is a few inches away from the sleeping bag all around you.

For those who would prefer a bit more elbow room, more traditional tents start at a size meant for one person an can continue up to a kind of room sized tent that is large enough for a family – or more. For the smaller to medium camping tents, many of them are 'pop-up,' or in other words, they unfold to their assembled shape, making them easy to set up. Of course, the larger the tent that you select, the more assembly that will be required by you.

Beyond size, you'll find numerous features regarding the tent itself. From color to material to design, the variety is nearly endless. You can find a basic camping tents with no frills, or you can get ones that have 'windows' and 'skylights' and even 'rooms' within the tent. Of course, with that variety comes a huge range of prices and weights as well – important things to remember when you are travelling alone or on a budget.

You will have a much more relaxed and enjoyable camping holiday if you are organized well in advance – and that means a sound camping equipment check. Whether you are going for a week end or a fortnight it is best to determine where you want to go and check where the camp sites are. It is a good idea to call ahead and make sure that there will be a space for you – especially if the period includes a national holiday. Make sure that you have some knowledge of the area in which you'll be staying before you set off. If you plan on taking the family dog check whether that's allowed early on – if it isn't then you may need to find a kennels.

When people talk about camping equipment they usually mean most or all of the following as basic equipment:

* Tent
* Ground sheet
* Tent poles
* Tent pegs
* Sleeping bags
* Camping stove and kettle
* Blankets – it gets cold at night
* A large torch
* Portable lamp
* Portable toilet
* Pots, pans and cutlery
* Insect spray
* Water carrier – you don't want to be trekking for this every five minutes

You can probably think of other camping equipment that you would regard as essential, especially if you're a seasoned camper. People often forget the silliest things and it is a good idea to make your lists well in advance. Check your camping equipment and make sure that everything is in good order – there's nothing worse than putting your tent up and finding a nasty split in the top.

Many campsites will have a camp shop for daily necessities and some may even stock some pieces of camping equipment – but don't rely on it. Make sure that you have tea/coffee, coke and dried milk. The first thing you will want once you've arrived and put up the tent is something to drink. Take some cookies and potato chips for late night munching.

If this is a family holiday then don't go without some books and games to keep the kids amused. You might also want to add aspirins, bandage and antiseptic cream to your camping equipment list. Whatever you do don't go without matches and paraffin (if that's what you use) to light the stove. Always take some insect repellent and sun cream, even if it isn't summer you'll be spending more time in the outdoors. Make sure that you have towels, soap and toothpaste before you make your final camping equipment check – and have a great, stress free holiday.

??

??

??

??

1

Many items are forgotten as an important camping accessory each time we leave our home and drive off into the sunset. By the time you realize you don't have the camping accessory with you, it's much too late to ever turn back. This means we either spend more money at some very expensive gas station or we act stubborn, and be angry for days on end because we no longer have what we depend on.

Let's discuss just a couple of accessories that are often long forgotten before we ever know it. These items may be small in comparison to what you are thinking right now, but they can also make all the difference in how efficiently your camping trip pans out.

Batteries Are Often A Camping Accessory That is Forgotten

When you are rustic camping, there is no electricity anywhere to be found and some of our important items, like our radios, are battery powered. I can't tell you the number of times we took an old, beat up radio into the woods, only to remember we forgot to pack the batteries. Needless to say, we ended up without any music or access to weather conditions, and that could have been a disaster.

Batteries are a must-add camping accessory and should be added to your camping list. Your flashlights will run on battery as well, and you just never really know when your batteries may finally bite the dust. Now, what if you were, in lets say, only the second day of a seven-day outing? You better hope then, you decided to go camping when the moon is full, or you will have long, dark nights once your campfire dies down.

Another Long Forgotten Camping Accessory Is Your Can Opener

Oh the joy of getting all settled in at your campsite and pitching up your tent, only to discover you can't open a single one of your can items! Let me tell you, this could mean the difference between continuing your camping trip or going home. As a camping accessory, your can opener serves as a lid cutter necessary to make lunch and dinner.

I suppose it's no big deal, if of course, you have other types of foods with you or you are capable of fishing to connect with your next meal. In this case, it's just a nuisance, because now your backpack won't be any lighter on the trudge down the side of the mountain.

A Flashlight Or Lantern Can Be Forgotten As A Camping Accessory, Because It's Still Sitting In Your Driveway!

Once again, unless you are camping under the stars in the whole moonlight, you will need to have a flashlight or a lantern. Yet, this is a commonly forgotten camping accessory. I believe this is most likely due to the fact we are usually leaving our homes in the daylight, and not thinking about when it's going to be dark.

When we forgot our lantern, we had it on our list, but left it in the driveway. Of course we didn't realize we left the lantern behind until we were almost to the rustic spot we were camping at, and well, we weren't going back to get another one!

Especially if you are new to the camping scene there is a lot more than one would think. To start with, the camping gear one needs is much more than some tent and sleeping bag. Firstly, the type and size of tent is very important depending on how many people are going and how comfortable you plan on being while camping. Although we all know that ordinarily when a tent says it's a four man that usually means that at best it will fit three people comfortably, and that is without inflatable mattresses and very little luggage. The number that the tents give is for extreme backpackers who plan on sleeping cosily inside the tent.

When considering going on a camping trip, there are a lot of items one must think of.

Another important item of camping gear is the sleeping bag. It is not sufficient to take just any bag when camping. It is important to know the weather conditions of the campsite and to take the necessary precautions to keep yourself warm while sleeping. However, because many campers may be carrying their luggage on their backs it is also important that the bag is not too bulky and awkward to carry. There are compromises and these can be found in stores. Watching out for the temperature of the bag and the size is probably the most important. To get the best in camping gear is not always cheap but it also does not have to bust a hole in your wallet. It is possible to find good quality camping gear at a reasonable price.

Another item of camping gear one needs to take into consideration if camping over a few days is a camping stove. These can be bought in most outdoor stores and again, they do not have to be big and bulky to serve their purpose. Small stoves can be found that only require some oil to light up and travel size pots can fit on top.

There is also specific camping gear that is better suited to different types of campers. For example, those camping with children, especially young children, will have to take a lot more into consideration than those travelling alone or in a group of peers. Certain precautions need to be taken by all campers but when there are children, there is a lot more to worry about. There is suitable camping gear for families however. Family size tents are available and very comfortable.

So no matter who the camper is, old or young, travelling alone or in a group, there is camping gear available for. It is generally easy to use and set up which is very important for those who don't want to spend all day building a tent.

Typically, when you think of reliable camping equipment, the first name that comes to mind is Coleman camping equipment. In terms of camping equipment, Coleman is typically known as the leader of manufacturing and distributing quality camping equipment and is generally seen as the world leader in this field. Coleman sells tents, stoves, grills, backpacks, lighting equipment, and virtually anything else that a camper might need out in the middle of nowhere.

History and Information

The Coleman camping equipment company was founded by a man named W.C. Coleman in Kansas. Coleman began selling kerosene lamps on his own before moving to Kansas and starting mass production on a variety of camping implements. The headquarters for Coleman is still located in Wichita, Kansas. Coleman specifically gears its marketing towards campers, but their product lines appeal to the outdoor person in all of us.

The Coleman Lamp

The most famous product from Coleman camping equipment is likely to be the "Coleman lamp" which is a series of lamps that burn kerosene, propane, or other combinations of fuels. The Coleman lamp is famous for its intensely bright white light that helps out many a camper in the darkness of the woods. There is simply no price that can be put on having a reliable lighting system in the woods, so the Coleman lamp remains a fixture in the camping gear of most adventurers.

Other Products

Coleman also produces an extensive line of other products for the needs of the camper or recreational addict and tends to be a favorite outlet store of many an outdoors person. Along with the Coleman lamp, Coleman camping equipment includes special tents made out of the best material for camping. These tents are incredibly popular among those making long term camping trips with protection from the environmental elements necessary to their survival.

Along with the popular tent line, Coleman camping equipment supplies sleeping bags and backpacks with the same safety guarantees and reliability in terms of reputation. Many expert campers rely on the Coleman name for quality and safety and this helps sell the Coleman brand to novice campers as well.

Coleman also manufactures camp stoves, lighting supplies, and even hot tubs and watches. If it has anything to do with the outdoors, Coleman camping equipment is likely to have a presence there because in the past, Coleman has even sold trailers and boats which yet again proves that Coleman is synonymous with anything recreation and camping.

Many activities in a camping trip include the use of sharp materials such as a screwdriver, a camping knife and various types of blades. Of all these tools, the camping knife is the most essential – and most useful of all. This is because it has so many uses, not only limited to cutting trees or branches, but for cooking, setting up the camping area as well as for protection.

A camping knife can be found in almost all stores that sell camping gear of any kind. Some websites even offer customizable knives that work on anything possible. These multi-purpose knives are the perfect companion for a camping expedition.

General purposes

A camping knife can be used in cutting trees and branches, wood for the fireplace, bushes, canvas and much more. Most of the knives used for these purposes are very durable because they are supposed to be alternatives for heavier materials such as axes.

These knives must meet some requirements, such as, that their blade should be black, oxidized, non-reflective, and made of stainless steel. They must be heavy enough and long enough to penetrate through the wood or similar material.

Protection

Campers who go deep down in forests to camp for a few days would never step out of their house without a camping knife as it can not only protect against intruders, but also against various other threats such as wild animals. A camping knife is very essential in this case, especially if you don't want to be carrying bigger weapons such as rifles, axes, and saws. Since these knives come with a holder that you can clip on to your belt or pants, they are easy to take along. Wherever you travel in the forest, you have the knife handy, and in case of anyone or anything attacking you, the knife can help protect you.

At the same time, however, a camping knife is extremely sharp and should be used wisely for protection purposes. Many incidents have taken place in camping outings where the campers fight and a camping knife gets involved.

Cooking and Fishing

A camping knife can be useful in cutting meat, vegetables and even opening cans. For those who fish and grill them, it is handy in skinning and cleaning the fishes. A clean camping knife can also be used to cut cooked food, if your cooking knives break or become blunt.

Motorcycle riders are a special kind of traveller – one who prefers to ride the road and feel the changes in the air rather than observe everything from behind a car window. While many motorcycles allow for significant storage space, motorcycles are definitely a way to travel light. But if you are a motorcycle rider who's been hauling traditional tents or camping gear around on your bike, then you haven't seen all of the possibilities for motorcycle travel. Motorcycle camping trailers let you take the convenience of a trailer without losing the freedom that comes from travelling on a bike.

Motorcycle camping trailers are essentially a tent in a box. That box opens up and the tent 'pops up' out of the box. It unfolds into a camper that is roomy enough for 2 or more people to sleep comfortably. Depending on the style, motorcycle camping trailers often even have inflatable mattresses. Plus, many models have additional pieces that you can attach in order to provide even more living space. The additional pieces include things such as tables or screened in porch type areas. But probably one of the nicest features of motorcycle camping trailers is that sleeping space, as well as some of the additional living space, depending on the model, is kept clean and dry above the ground.

You can customize motorcycle camping trailers by adding a number of features when you order it. If you truly prefer the creature comforts and you have a portable air conditioner, then the trailer can be designed with an air vent that will let all the cool air in. Or, you can add a cooler package, which in some models actually sits just behind the hitch, so you can keep your food and beverages fresh and cool and easy to access. If you want some shade where you camp, awnings are often available so you can set up some cool outdoor space as well. In fact, many motorcycle camping trailers have both internal storage space as well as a luggage rack that can hold any additional equipment or gear you might need. You can even customize other features such as color, style, and even hubcabs or rims on your trailer so that is fits in with the rest of your bike.

Of course, the weight of motorcycle camping trailers is an important consideration. You'll need to know what your bike can safely tow. Then you'll want to consider the weight of the rider or riders, the weight of any motorcycle camper trailers you are considering, and the weight of the gear you want to bring. Remember that the additional weight will also change your gas consumption, something you'll want to calculate in your trip costs.

The main goal to any type of camping gear is making sure the gear is going to be useful to you in the elements you will be subjected to while camping. I remember some miserable days camping because we didn't have the right camping gear handy and when it rained, it poured. Needless to say, the camping gear didn't keep us dry and we ended up cold and frustrated. If you don't have the right camping gear, everything you bring along can get soaked in a rain storm and then you may as well just pack it up and head it home.

Camping Gear Should Make Your Experience Easier

The right kind of camping gear will make your camping experience more enjoyable, especially if you are camping in a rustic fashion. A good hiking backpack really does wonders when you are trailing off to some destination that is unknown. Your backpack can actually help to push you forward, up a hill and is gentler on your knees when you are steadying yourself to come down.

Make sure your camping gear includes some sort of lighting source. I know it may never happen to you, but what if by some slim chance you ended up lost in an area you don't know too well? It happens all the time and could leave you stranded in the dark, alone at night. It's not any fun to be tripping over stumps and breaking legs on fallen trees, so make sure you have some sight planned out for night. Also make sure you carry a utensil to start a fire with. After all, we all know we can light a fire with a stick and stone, but how many people have actually tried it?

Carry on hand either canned, non-perishables that you can cook right in the container in the fire and your eating utensils or pull up your cooking attire with your 4-wheeler so that you can cook your perishable foods so they don't go bad and your tummy doesn't scream "I'm hungry!"

Camping Gear Can Be Purchased Anywhere

You can purchase camping gear virtually everywhere. You can purchase the gear online, at Walmart, Target, Gander Mountain or even out of magazines. You name it, you can find it and it's all very easy to obtain. Whatever you feel your needs are, please make sure you bring them along!

When the adventurous decision to go camping is made, it is important to make sure that the right camping food is part of the packing plan. Food – specifically camping food – is a vital ingredient to fully enjoy your camping adventure.

However, when camping, we often leave the modern convenience of refrigeration and other food preparation items behind. Therefore, selecting the right food for the camping adventure is important.

Simple Rules

Some simple rules for camping food are to take only what you need plus a little extra. Also, it is wise to repackage everything. Remove the food from the original package and store the foodstuff items in plastic storage bags. If instructions are needed for preparation cut them out and include them with the food.

Breakfast

A camping food for breakfast that is easy to prepare and a good source of nutrition and energy is oatmeal topped with brown sugar. If you are considering other dry cereal it is best to consider a granola type cereal as it is less prone to leave crumbs and is more compact for packing purposes. A good rule of thumb is to provide a portion of 1/4 pound per person each day. Powdered milk mixed with water is perfect to pour over the cereal.

Lunch

Protein is important in a camping food lunch and can be found in many products. A good source of protein that will not spoil is dry salami and mozzarella cheese. A good source of carbohydrates is dried fruit such as apricots and raisins or a trail mix which contains a mix of fruits and nuts. Healthy sandwiches can be made with peanut butter and jam on whole grain bread. Water, powdered Gatorade and other such drinks are important to keep the body hydrated.

Dinner

At the end of a day in the great outdoors, a nutritious camping food dinner could include an instant rice meal that cooks quickly and easily. Or you could experiment with pasta like spaghetti, macaroni, Ramen noodles or a dry soup. Sauce or spices of your choice can be added for flavoring. If you are a meat lover open a can of tuna or chicken and add that over the grains.

Snacks

Snacks should always be an important part of your camping food cache. Treats such as granola bars, nutrition bars, chocolate or hard candy helps to bring a touch of home and satisfies the sweet tooth as well.

If you enjoy camping then you know that one of the best parts of this activity is the food. Cooking and eating outdoors can be a fantastic experience which can be made even better with the right camping recipe.

For Starters

A great dish to start with when camping is shrimp kebab, and this is one camping recipe that is so easy you just can't go wrong. Get yourself a few metal kebob skewers or sticks and enough shrimp to fill each stick about halfway. Alternate between a shrimp and a piece of chopped onion or red pepper until the stick is full and then place the kebob on a grill over the fire. Let the kebab cook for about three minutes, pour a little chili sauce over the shrimp and voila- you have a camping recipe that is delicious and simple.

The Main Event

Well, no prizes for guessing which camping recipe we recommend here: good old beef burgers. Everyone has their own way of doing these but we think this camping recipe has an edge. Take one pound of ground beef; throw in a tablespoon of vinegar, a tablespoon of sugar and a dash of salt and pepper. Take a quarter cup of barbeque sauce and mix everything together.

Make burgers with the mixture and pat them until you have a nice, tight burger after which you can place them over a low burning fire for about ten minutes. The rest is easy – put it in a bun, maybe add a slice of cheese and whatever other toppings you enjoy and bingo – a traditional, mouth-watering burger.

Something Sweet

Now the final camping recipe that we have for you is sweet grilled banana with a chocolate filling! Take your banana and slit it open. Now push in a few pieces of dark cooking chocolate and wrap the banana in foil and place over the heat for about five minutes and you're done – it's a real treat especially if you have a sweet tooth.

We hope you enjoy these recipes but remember, for any camping recipe it is important that you thoroughly cook any meat or fish. When meat is cooked over a flame it may quickly look like it is ready but always check the inside is cooked thoroughly.

Otherwise the main thing with any camping recipe is to keep it simple and eat it with your fingers!

Camping is a wonderful recreational activity that you can enjoy with your spouse, friends, or family. With it, not only does your exhausted mind get relieved, but also you get to breathe in lots of fresh air and do a variety of healthy physical activities. The experience freshens you up like nothing else would. But it is essential to pack the right kind of gear or equipment you will need to survive in the wilderness and rough terrains. Equally important is not to take along the items that have more weight and less utility.

Especially if you are headed for a trip that will require you to trek a long distance till the camping site, you need to be extremely careful to include only essential and lightweight items of practical utility in your list. This is because most of us are not used to walking in rough terrains. And if there is a heavy bag on your back weighing you down, there will be a good possibility of you collapsing before your camping trip has even begun. Otherwise also, if you do manage to make it, you would end up getting exhausted every day instead of enjoying yourself.

The Do's And Don'ts While Selecting Camping Gear:
Don't go for bulky and large tents for camping. Instead opt for the types that are lightweight and durable. They would weigh less and occupy less space in your bag. Also learn to pack them the right way. If you pack them in a messy manner, they would lessen the space in your bag and might necessitate carrying an extra bag. Same thing goes for the sleeping bags. For example down-filled sleeping bags are lightweight and provide more warmth than most of the other types of sleeping bags.

Select the clothing that does not add too much weight to your camping gear. Especially for camping during summer consider clothing made of light fabric like pajamas, loose tops / t-shirts. Avoid heavy stuff like jeans, sweatshirts. Even for wintertime camping, pack the kind of clothes that provide more warmth and not bulk.

The Cookware And Foodstuff:
It is best to take along Freeze-dried camping food. This kind of food is light weight, easy to make (just need to add some hot water), and tastes reasonably good. If you are adept at cooking over fire, you may take along the minimum of cookware and sufficient food material. Remember, cookware can add a lot of unnecessary weight. Restrict it to the bare minimum.

Avoid Gizmos:
At any cost avoid packing things like portable CD-players, laptops, and other such technical gadgets that you have a fetish for. Apart from adding unnecessary weight, they corrupt the natural ambience and serenity of the camping site.

Any sort of camping, rustic or otherwise, can be best enjoyed by taking along only the essential items. Too many camping equipment also makes the camping site look messy and spoils the fun.

Camping is a great way of vacationing that has arisen out of our latent desire to remain in proximity of Mother Nature. Occasionally we feel the need to break free from the shackles of material world and cuddle in nature's lap for a while. You also have the option to stay in one of the many hotels or resorts in the mountains. However, the formal surroundings of these places constantly remind you of the city life that you are trying so hard to get away from. That is why camping emerges as an ideal choice for those who are looking for that perfect tte–tte with Mother Nature!

Camping Sites:
It has been conventional to camp in mountainous regions that are usually heavily forested. Though there is no such binding rule for camping. You can pitch your tent virtually at any isolated and scenic place – amid the hills, on the bank of a river, seaside area etc. However, people find camping much more fun in the hills or mountains. The terrain simply suits the vacationing style. The majestic grandeur and serenity of mountains overlooking camping sites, the popular associated activities like rock climbing, hiking, trekking, mountain biking and so on make mountains ideal camping spots. It is for this reason, these days camping has come to imply staying in tents in the wild mountainous regions. In the U.S, the government has specified certain areas and parks that are to be used as camping grounds.

Different Ways To Camp:
Camping is chiefly a recreational activity aimed at having fun in pristine surroundings. However, some people also see it as a means to test their endurance. Therefore, broadly two ways of camping have developed. One is the milder kind practiced by families who camp at safe sites where amenities like water, medicine, and sports like fishing, horse riding, etc are available to keep the children engaged and entertained. Other kind of camping is meant for adults looking for adventure. In this case, sites encompass rough terrain and the activities include hiking, trekking, and rock climbing. Such campers bring along the minimum amount of gear. The period of camping also varies greatly. Some camping trips are restricted to weekends and some stretch as far as a month.

The Weather Factor:
Usually the best season to go camping is summer. Most people prefer to camp during the warmer part of the year. However, camping during winter months can also be fun and there are a good number of people who like to do it. Camping in snow gives you a different high and one big advantage is that you get to see more wildlife than in summer. The reason is that animals like deer, moose etc. move to the lower regions of mountains in search of food.

Where To Get Information On Camping:
There are various books that provide useful information regarding the sites of camping, camping equipment and food. But the best place to look for information relating to camping is the Internet. There are a number of sites that contain detailed information on various aspects of camping.
