Ah, the great outdoors. What can be better than taking the family back to Mother Nature? Where the air is clear and, best of all, the phone finally stops ringing. Yes, the decision was made and we were going camping this year. Now the only thing to check was the state of my camping gear and equipment.

Time to Go Shopping

On close inspection I realized that as we had not been camping for a few years, it was time to upgrade our camping gear and equipment. First thing first – the tent. Our current tent was a huge monster with three bedrooms, a living area and a store room. On top of that there were about five bags of poles and pins than I couldn’t possibly carry.

At the store we looked at a few of the newer tents and I started to realize that camping gear and equipment has really advanced in the last few years. We picked up a couple of two man tents that were so much lighter, didn’t need any poles and there was still plenty of room. What’s more, they practically built themselves! This was fun.

Don’t Forget the Accessories

With the tent replaced it was time to think about the other camping gear and equipment required for a good outdoor holiday. I know I always enjoy eating outside in the fresh air and some of the new gas cookers are excellent: very safe, no odors and extremely fuel efficient.

By coupling the cooker with a portable water heater, you have the same basic equipment that come with any indoor kitchen. After the food was taken care of, I focused on my sleeping arrangements as the last sleeping bag I had was an ugly green thing that never really kept the cold out.

A Good Night’s Sleep

Again, it’s amazing how much camping gear and equipment has improved over the past few years. The latest sleeping bags are lightweight and made of super modern fabrics that really keep you warm. One for each member of the family was clearly required as were optional camping mattresses and pillows.

This was going to be one holiday where I would definitely get a good night’s sleep. Yes, there’s no doubt about it, camping gear and equipment has come a long way since we last went camping. So if you are thinking about a holiday without hotels or airports, or cars or telephones, then maybe you should consider looking into modern camping gear and equipment, it makes a great holiday even better.

When you decided to go camping, you knew where you were headed into, but you didn’t know your cooking would have been more of a breeze with a camping stove. You aren’t alone, because most people who go camping end up carrying their belongings at least part of the way. If you are lucky enough to drive close to your spot, bringing along a camping stove will be a great benefit and has an additional bonus.

The bonus comes in the fact that your camping stove is creating more free time for you to enjoy yourself. Your food cooks more evenly and the camping stove runs on white gas, so it really doesn’t matter if you have electricity or not.

How Camping Stoves Work

A camping stove is really easy to set up and is created so it won’t be blown over in a strong wind. A camping stove runs on white gas, and is in a little container on the inside of the stove. You hook a little tube up, without any additional tools, and presto, you now have a viable cooking stove. Once everything is hooked up, you adjust the flames on the stove so you don’t waste gas, and begin cooking.

There are many different brands of a good camping stove. The Coleman company is the best one that comes to mind. Depending on your cooking needs, you can get the right size camping stove for your family. You can get camping stoves that you can cook with more than one pan on at a time. This is a great feature because not only is it a very slow process in a fire or with a one-burner stove, but the convenience it provides is exceptional.

Types Of Camping Stoves And Their Benefits

There are many different brands that make a good camping stove, but the important part is which company can hook you up best to suit your camping style. Some stoves have only one burner, while others have more and which one you want depends on how much you have to cook. Bigger families will want the larger camping stove, while a single or two-person family may only need one burner.

Your Food Is Cooked Both More Efficiently, and Quickly.

With your camping stove, you are now able to get your cooking job done more quickly. This enables more time for you to spend running around on the beach or swimming in the lake. Being able to enjoy some simple freedom, rather than slaving over a frying pan seems to be much more adventurous.

Going on a camping trip can be a fun-filled experience, but in certain cases, due to mismanagement of time and improper planning, it could be a recipe for disaster. Even before you get to the camping spot itself, you could face various problems, simply because you failed to reserve a good spot in advance.

Camping reservations are something so essential that it should always be on top of the list when planning such a trip. This is because without a good camping spot, there would be no point of going at all. You might just stay home rather than trying to fit or squeeze into a camping zone that is already full where you were the last to arrive.

Essential steps

One basic step in making a camping reservation is contacting the authorities at least six months ahead of the trip itself. Such authorities would include campground offices, backwoods offices, natural resources departments and many more. These authorities would advise you about camping requirements and give you several campsite options.

You can choose a camping reservation system which allows you to reserve at least three months in advance of the trip or in many places even at the last minute, depending on availability. There are many campsites which also run on first-come first-served basis.

Reservation Systems and Payments

Camping reservation systems usually run 24 hours a day. You can reserve online or on the phone if you choose to pay by credit card. At some places, they allow cash payments at walk-in registration during your check-in date at the camping zone. If you opt to camp outside the protected camping zone, you might want to pay through your credit card to avoid wasting valuable camping time.

Usually, most camping zones have a single lump-sum charge in which there is only one fee to pay, regardless of how many nights you are going to stay. Some places charge a separate camping reservation fee, so check out the options available.

Guidance and Tutorials

Most of the camping authorities nowadays have websites where they offer an interactive map of the campgrounds that are available for reservation. This website would contain all the required information on the camping site, including the weather, the landscape, the scenery, the offered activities, the setting, the size and geographical statistics, as well as some pictures to help you make a more informed choice and be able to plan your trip accordingly.

Your excitement about wilderness trips will help you select your next camping tent. When you say, “Wow, I’m going camping,” you’re using a handy acronym that sums up a new tent’s most important features. WOW = Weather + Occupants + Weight. Consider the season and the location. What’s the weather forecast, how many people are going, and how much can they carry?”

Camping tent selection involves tradeoffs between creature comforts and the practicalities of cost, size, and weight. If you’re car camping, you can afford the luxury of a bulky, heavy tent that requires space in both the car and the camp. If you’re a backpacker and/or minimalist, smaller and lighter tents are more optimal.

Weather

Manufacturers’ camping tent ratings reflect the time of year for which the tents are intended: 1-season, 3-season, or 4-season. 1-season tents, for summer use, feature light-colored fabrics, mesh for ventilation, and single-wall construction for protection against light rain.

3-season tents, the most popular, feature breathable fabrics and mesh windows and doors for ventilation and insect protection. Double-wall construction–usually in the form of a waterproof full or partial rainfly–keeps out rain and light snow. A durable, properly pitched 3-season camping tent will usually tolerate more wind than a 1-season tent.

4-season tents emphasize protection against heavy wind and snow. They feature stronger fabrics and sturdier tent poles along with zip-up panels to keep out the elements. Look for tents labeled “expedition” or “mountaineering” for extreme winter weather and/or high altitude conditions.

Occupants

Camping tent capacity ratings (1-person, 2-person, 4-person, etc.) indicate the number of people who can reasonably sleep in the tent. Some experts suggest buying tents rated for more people than you have if you don’t like snug sleeping quarters and want room to store gear, eat and play games. However, creature-comfort space also adds weight and bulk, a concern especially for backpackers.

Car campers can extend the space of a basic tent by purchasing models with multiple rooms and by using gazebos, awnings, and larger rainflies. The 2- and 3-person dome, modified dome, and tunnel-style tents are very popular because they provide enough room for sitting, standing and moving around.

Weight

While you may not mind carrying a heavy tent a few feet from your car to the campsite, you’ll discover that packing the tent into the back country is quite another matter. Most people don’t easily carry more than one quarter to one third of their body weight. While some backpackers favor sunshades and tarps in the summer and bivy sacks/shelters in the winter, you can find good 2- and 3-person tents that weigh only six to eight pounds. When backpacking with multi-person tents, hand out the poles and rainflies to other members of the group to better distribute the weight.

A good camping tent is light, durable, easy to pitch, easy to maintain and repair, and reflects your outdoors style. Remember “WOW,” and you’ll cover all your basic shelter needs.

- 2 -

Camping has become a popular activity in the country and throughout the world. In the UK (United Kingdom), for instance, camping is very common amongst people who go on cycling trips through the country. Camping with a caravan is also a popular activity amongst those who live, or visit the United Kingdom. The weather conditions are extremely unpredictable; therefore you will want to equip yourself with the proper camping gear. UK is known to have very wet conditions, so bringing waterproof equipment is important.

Many outdoor enthusiasts enjoy days of hiking and camping through the mountainous region of the UK. Therefore it is extremely important to have the right hiking gear and camping gear. UK is an ideal location for various outdoor activities like hiking, cycling or camping. Many people vacation in this country to enjoy the wonderful outdoors that the area has to offer. During the summer the mild weather conditions in the north make it a great place to enjoy a week long camping trip. However only the real die-hard outdoor enthusiasts go hiking or camping in the winter months because of the harsh conditions during these months.

Because of the unpredictable weather in the United Kingdom, many people use their caravans when they go on camping trips. There are many people who come from Eastern Europe with their caravans and camping gear. UK has many caravan parks and is very accommodating in certain areas. By browsing on the Internet you will be able to find a directory of caravan parks located throughout the United Kingdom. Once you have mapped out the location of the parks you wish to camp in, then you will want to ensure that you have the proper camping gear for your trip.

Many visitors to the United Kingdom, who arrive in their caravans, purchase their camping gear before their trip. However, if it is a last minute vacation some people may buy the needed equipment along the way. If you are camping in a caravan you will have a list that is different from your normal list of camping gear. UK visitors are often better off purchasing their camping gear before the trip, as they may end up saving more. Stocking up on your food before the trip may be a good idea as well, as it can be expensive in the long run.

By planning our trip properly and buying the right camping gear, UK camping trip can become a very enjoyable and memorable experience. Whether you are hiking and camping, cycling and camping, or camping in your caravan, you are bound to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the United Kingdom.

A camping toilet, although not a necessity, is a dignified, convenient and environmentally safe option for individuals to respond to the calls of nature. There are many products available on the market and when choosing a camping toilet the following three factors may aid you in your deliberations to acquire the right product for you and your family.

Camping toilets can be found at various RV dealerships, sporting-goods stores and discount department stores too.

Assessing Your Need

If you are an avid camper and have children that go camping with you a camping toilet is probably a wise purchase. This convenient device provides for the needs of the camping family when nature calls during any part of the day or night. By having one of your own, you provide for the safety of your family when a night visit is needed. Using the facility that is in close proximity to the family is certainly a prudent safety measure.

Four things to consider

There are four considerations to take into account when shopping for a camping toilet that suits your needs. The first consideration is the size of the toilet. The second factor should be the number of uses of the facility before emptying is required. The third deals with choosing which additional features your camping toilet is to be equipped with such as a latch, level indicator, and different color scheme and whether you want the device to be electric or water powered. Fourth, you should consider the frequency with which your party goes for camping trips and to what destinations.

One additional consideration would be to provide privacy for those using the camping toilet. Such an accessory can be purchased in any camping department located in a retail store. Or such a privacy screen can be an old shower curtain pressed into service for this purpose.

Other Benefits

Additional benefits to owning a camping toilet is the convenience of having such an apparatus in the event of any water flow disruption to your home. The inconvenience of not having toilet facilities, especially for children, can be a difficult situation. Having a camping toilet available, within the home for such possibilities, provides for a good backup plan.

Also, in the light of the recent natural disasters across America, an available camping toilet is a critical component to include as part of an emergency disaster contingency plan such as a hurricane or tornado.

Are you interested in taking a camping trip? Whether you are interested in going camping alone, with your family, with your romantic partner, or with a group of your friends, you will need to find a campground to camp at. While many individuals just choose to go camping at the nearest campground, you may want to think about not doing the same. In the United States and probably even close to your home, you should have a number of different campgrounds to choose from. So, why not just take the time to make sure that you choose the best one for you and your needs.

If you are interested in taking the time to find the “perfect,” campground you may be wondering exactly how you can go about doing so. In all honesty, it will depend on your own wants and needs, as well as the wants and needs of the rest of your camping party. Although not everyone wants to get the same thing out of their camping trips, there are a number of important factors that you may want to think about taking into consideration, when looking for a campground to camp at.

One of the many things that you will want to take into consideration, when looking for a campground to camp at, is the cost of doing so. In the United States, you will find that most campgrounds require the payment of an admission fee or a camping fee and occasionally even both. The cost of the admission fee or camping fee will all depend on the campground in question. For instance, many smaller campgrounds charge smaller fees. Also, you will likely find larger fees for campgrounds that have more onsite activities.

Speaking of onsite activities, activities are something else that you may want to think about taking into consideration, when choosing a campground to camp at. When it comes to the onsite activities of a campground, you may want to take a look at the scenery. If a campground has on onsite lake or pond then there is a good chance that swimming, boating, and fishing are activities that you may be able to enjoy. Campgrounds are also often home to hiking trails, biking trails, playgrounds for children, and much more.

How reservations are taken is another factor that you may want to think about taking into consideration, when choosing a campground to camp at. For instance, there are some campgrounds in the United States that randomly assign you a camping spot. On the other hand, there are campgrounds that allow you to handpick your camping spot out of all available locations. Many campers prefer choosing their own camping spots, as it tends to give them some freedom over their camping trip and how much fun they have. If you are picky about where you would like to camp, you may want to find a campground that allows you to choose your own camping spot.

Although it is nice to know what you should look for in a campground, it is also important that you know how to find them. If you are interested in camping locally, you may already know of a number of local campgrounds. If not, you should be able to use your local phone book or ask those that you know for recommendations. As for campgrounds that are located a ways away from your home, you may want to think about using the internet. A large number of popular campground parks have online websites and a standard internet search should them you find those websites, which could be used to learn more about the campground in question.

As a reminder, you may want to think about taking the time to research a number of different campground parks. It is important that you remember that no two campground parks are the same. To ensure that your next camping adventure is as memorable as possible, you may want to make sure that your intended destination is perfect for you and the rest of your camping party.

Beach camping is a thrilling way to meet new friends. While you are basking in the hot sun, with lotion protecting your skin, you will have opportunities to meet people you never knew existed before you went camping.

All of these people are at the same place as you for a reason and they want to enjoy the company of others while they splash away in the fresh, cool water. Beach camping is a more modern approach to camping and you are provided with running water and electricity, of course for fee that is usually charged per day.

Carry On With Your Beach Towel, Suntan Oil and Bug Dope

Aside for the obvious food and little odds and ends accessories, you really only need to make sure have a great beach towel, plenty of suntan oil and bug dope. A bug dope can mean the difference between enjoyment and unhappiness when you are beach camping close to a wilderness area. Little gnats and mosquitoes can really make people feel uncomfortable.

The important part is that you are protected from the conditions of the environment, because everything else is made easier for you. Even the beaches are groomed and savvy, with no worries of items that can hurt you. These areas are protected by a qualified person who maintains the camp while you are beach camping.

Kick Back With The Cool Sunglasses And Watch The Tide Roll In

While you are beach camping, you can sit in the evening sun and watch the tide come rolling in. Sharing this inspirational beauty with a loved one, is often a memory worth keeping for many years to come. Watching the waves come crashing in while you are beach camping can be a peaceful way to enjoy an evening.

Walk bare feet through the wet sand while you are beach camping and feel the cold sand scraping up the cracks of your toes. When you are beach camping, you can often find some sort of treasure and they are usually found near or in the water. Fossils and gemstones are often apparent at beach camping areas and the history will be the treasure of a lifetime.

Feel Great The Whole Time You Are Beach Camping.

Unlike rustic camping, beach camping offers you an opportunity to take showers. At any given point in time during the day, you can go freshen yourself up. This is a lot more fun than the rustic camping route can sometimes be, considering some temperatures can get colder than even I care to mention.

You can decide to freshen yourself up by simply jumping into the lake at your campground area, or you can take the more conservative measures and enjoy the fresh, hot water of a shower.

When visiting the beautiful wonders of Yosemite National Park, many people will choose to enter the park only for the day. So if you want to avoid the car traffic and stay as close to the natural beauty as possible, then camping is a great way to do so. If you are simply planning to visit the park, you don’t need to make a reservation. But if you intend to spend the night, then Yosemite camping reservations may be required depending on the time of year and the campground that you are interested in.

Regardless of whether or not you have a reservation, you will still have to pay the entrance fees that are applicable to all visitors. For private cars or trucks, you will pay $20.00 per vehicle. But the good news is that the fee gives you the freedom to come and go for up to seven days. If you happened to arrive at the park on foot, on your motorcycle, or by horseback, then the same entrance pass will be $10.00 per person. If you plan to visit the park multiple times in a year, or if you are a senior citizen or a person with disabilities, then it would be wise to inquire about special admittance passes that may save you money.

When it comes to Yosemite camping reservations, you will find that you will have 13 campgrounds to choose from. But you will also find that Yosemite camping reservations are extremely competitive at certain points of the year. All of the car campgrounds in Yosemite Valley require that you make reservation year round. If you would like to stay in the Hodgdon Meadow, Crane Flat, or Wawona campgrounds, then Yosemite camping reservations are required from summer through the fall. Half of the space at Tuolumne Meadows also requires reservations from summer through fall. All other campsites at Yosemite are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you do need to make Yosemite camping reservations, you will need to use the National Park Reservation System. The system is a bit odd, because although reservations can be made up to about 4 months ahead of the time you’d like to visit, and although you can reserve up to a month of days at a time, you are only able to make those reservations on a strict schedule, always starting on the 15th of a month, depending on when you would like to arrive at the site. For example, if you want to arrive between December 15th and January 14th, the first day you can make those reservations is August 15th. September 15th is the first day to make Yosemite camping reservations for arriving from January 15th to February 14th, and so on. For the most popular months of May and September, it’s not uncommon to find that all reservations are taken within just a few hours of the first day you can make them. You can check back for cancellations from time to time, though.

The state of Virginia is one of the best places to go camping in the U.S. Regardless of the type of holiday you want, Virginia has the amenities, and the welcome, that you are looking for. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why you should try camping in Virginia.

Lots to Do

It has to be said, if you are camping in Virginia then you are spoiled to begin with because there are tons of things to do. From bike riding to canoeing, fishing to hiking, wine tasting to golf, everything is available in this great state. As for the scenery, well take your pick. There’s the Shenandoah Valley, the Blue Ridge Mountains and Luray Caverns all at your disposal. Whether it’s just you and your backpack or the entire family in the RV, when you go camping in Virginia you’re bound to find exactly what you are looking for.

Virginia Loves Campers

There is no doubt about it that Virginia is one of the most camper friendly places there is. With over 300 miles of trails and over one thousand campsites, there is no doubt that camping in Virginia has it all. It isn’t just the nature as when you go camping in Virginia there is also plenty of history with all the Civil War sites as well as numerous museums and shops to enjoy. On top of that, Virginia has camp sites in twenty two of its State Parks, offering amenities such as bathing facilities, picnic tables and the numerous- and handy – power outlets.

Too Much Choice

When you take into account that camping in Virginia means you could come face to face with a black bear one day, or go sky diving the next, there is no better area in the whole of the United States to go camping. The scenery is breath taking all year round so whether you go in the middle of winter or the height of summer, you are guaranteed to have a great time camping in Virginia.

Forget the hustle and bustle of booking a hotel or the endless waiting in airport lounges for a flight to some over-priced resort where you never get a minute to yourself. When you go camping in Virginia it’s just you and Mother Nature. Just think – you could pack up the car this weekend and before you know it you’ll be waking up to the sound of birdsong and breathing that beautiful Virginia air.

If you are ready to enter the camping world , then you have a number of options ahead of you to create the best experience that you can. Once you start exploring what’s available in the camping world , you will certainly find that there is more out there to experience than you ever thought possible.

First, if you are new to the camping world , then you would be wise to try a short weekend getaway at a location near you to see if it’s something you will truly enjoy. That way, you can have a trial run without investing too much time or money in your new hobby until you are certain that you’d like to continue pursuing it. Chances are, you are already familiar with camping locations near you. But you might not realize that there are likely to be a number of options at that site that will help you to customize your first camping world experience. The most basic options for campsites are those where you simply pay a site or usage fee. You pay per night for the privilege of setting up camp at the site. Depending on the location, there may be other services or amenities included, such as shower and toilet facilities or barbecue grills.

Beyond these basics, you will learn that the camping world has a full range of options for your vacation. You could find that all at the same site, you have those taking the option of a fully equipped cabin with all the luxuries of a hotel sharing their camping world with those who are sleeping in a tent and cooking on their campfire. Regardless of the location that you choose, you will need to familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations that you are required to follow when camping at the site. If it is a private site, the penalty for violating a rule could simply be that you are asked to leave. But if you are in a government run campsite, such as a state or national park, then you could be facing a fine for violating a law or regulation on a campsite.

Once you’ve done your weekend trip, you may find that you are hooked on the experience. If so, the camping world is now wide open for you to explore. There are literally thousands of camping sites across the nation, not to mention thousands more across the world. If you become a serious camper, you will also find that there is no end to the variety of products you can find to help make your experience more comfortable. Plus, if you do a little research, you’re certain to find recreation groups in your area whose members could very well let you in on some of the best locations to try – and might even be great travel partners for your next trip.

Are you interested in taking a trip? Whether you want to your trip to be alone, with your friends, with your family, or even just with your romantic partner, you will need to find a place to visit, as well as activities to participate in. If you have yet to decide what you would like to do for your next trip, have you ever though about going camping and hiking? When alone, camping and hiking are both fun filled activities, but when combined, they are, literally, the perfect combination.

Although it is nice to know that hiking and camping are the perfect combination, you may be wondering exactly why that is. If you are, you will find that there are an unlimited number of reasons as to why hiking and camping are the perfect fit for each other and the perfect way to spend your next vacation. For reasons as to why you should give camping and hiking a try, you will want to continue reading on.

As previously stated, camping and hiking are things that just seem to fit together. This is apparent in a number of different ways. For instance, hiking trails are commonly found in areas or establishments that are referred to as hiking parks. Hiking parks, especially large popular ones, often have their own onsite campgrounds. You will also find that most public campground parks have at least one or two hiking trials on them. The fact that hiking and camping experts automatically pair hiking and camping together is a sign that camping and hiking really are the perfect combination.

Another reason why camping and hiking may be perfect for your next trip or vacation is because they are both designed for individuals of all ages. This is important, especially if you are looking for something to do with your family. Children of all ages, as well as adults, enjoy both camping and hiking. In fact, in the United States, you will find that hiking trials come in a number of different difficulty levels. For instance, it is more than possible to find hiking trails that are designed for beginners. These types of hiking trials would be ideal, in most cases, for young children or elderly individuals.

The cost of hiking and camping are another one of the many reasons why they make the perfect combination, as well as why they may be perfect for your next trip, vacation, or adventure. Hiking and camping are both affordable activities for you to participate in. In fact, if you decide to make a reservation at a public campground park, you will likely find that you are able to go hiking, on an onsite trail, free of charge. The same may even be said for if you visited a hiking park and decided to stay overnight. While many activities may end up being free for you, you will see that it all depends on the establishment in question.

If you are interested in combining hiking and camping to make the perfect adventure for you, your family, your friends, or you and your romantic partner, you may want to think about making your arrangements in advance. Hiking and camping are both popular activities in the United States. While you may not necessarily need to make reservations to go hiking, you may need to make them if you plan on camping overnight at a hiking park or in a public campground. In fact, the earlier that you make your reservations, the more choices you may have, as many establishments allow you to handpick your own camping spots.

As you can see, there are a number of different reasons as to why hiking and camping make the perfect combination, as well as why they would be great for your next vacation, trip, or adventure. Hiking and camping is something that you may at least want to think about discussing with your traveling party. Once it is mentioned, you may be surprised with just how many people would like to give this perfect combination a try.

What camping supplies will you need to take with you on your next camping trip? A good way to make sure you don’t leave behind any needed camping supplies is to create a camping supplies checklist. Making such a checklist before packing will allow gathering all of your camping trip supplies easier, and after you have packed, you can consult your checklist to make sure you haven’t left any essential camping item out. Also, your camping supply checklist can be saved and reused every time you set out on a camping trip. With each trip to the campgrounds, you can modify, edit, and add to your checklist to make it better and more precise for the future as you learn with each trip.

Camping supplies and your camping checklist can be divided up into a few categories. These categories including camping gear such as your tent, camp cooking supplies, hygiene items, first aid kits, and outdoor sports equipment. Dividing up your camping supply checklist into categories such as these will allow for easier packing and ensure that you don’t leave anything behind.

Depending on what outdoor activities you will be participating in while on your camping trip, you will need to include different camping supplies. Fishers, hunters, and hikers will each have different camping needs. For example, if you are planning on fishing during your camping trip, you will probably want to cook up your catch of the day to eat at the campfire. Your camping supply checklist will need to include knives for preparing your fish, and perhaps a portable grill or aluminum foil for cooking.

A first aid kit is a camping supply that must not be overlooked by any camper in cause of any mishaps that may be encountered while outdoors. Always check your first aid kit before setting out on a camping trip to make sure that it is well stocked. Following are a few items that are good choices for your camping first aid kit.

* Gauze and bandages in a variety of sizes
* Antiseptic cream or spray
* Sterile wipes, bacterial hand gel, or hydrogen peroxide
* Aloe treatment for sunburns
* Paid medicine
* Tweezers
* Pocket knife
* Scissors
* Saline solution
* Q-tips
* Lighter or matches
* Chap stick
* Anti-diarrhea medicine

Another essential category of camping supplies for every camping trip are camp cooking supplies. You can bring along the most basic camp cooking supplies such as aluminum foil to prepare simple, quick meals, or you can go the extra mile and bring cooking equipment such as portable grills or dutch ovens for campfire favorites such as steaks, stews, chili, and muffins.

Would like to enjoy the same great tasting food you do at home while you are out camping? Camping recipes can allow you to prepare good meals while being faced with the limitations that cooking in the outdoors brings. Nothing can match the satisfying taste of a great meal prepared over the campfire. Depending on what type of equipment you have, camping recipes will allow you to a big, hot meal or a simple snack that requires only minimum preparation.

If you have skillets to bring along on your camping trip, some great camping recipes to try out are ones that involve sauteeing, such as fajitas or stir fry. These recipes use great fresh ingredients that are nutritious and are easy to prepare. Also, if you do some preparation at home before you leave, such as cutting up your vegetables, your cooking job at the campsite will be even easier. Bringing a simple grill with you to place over the campfire makes a great place to prepare a hearty steak or other meal of meat to fuel you during your time outdoors. Other recipes, such as an apple, peanut better and jelly sandwich don’t even require a fire, but can be just a fulfilling.

It is important to eat nutritious meals while you are out camping. Many campers will be participating in activities such as fishing, hiking and boating that will require energy. To keep going throughout the day, it is especially important to eat a healthy breakfast. Some good foods to take with you camping that will provide energy and do not require complicated preparation or refrigeration include: granola, apples, bananas, trail mix, beef jerky, bagels, grapes, celery, oatmeal, beans and peanut butter.

Following is one of many quick and simple camping recipes that also offers a nutritious, energy-providing meal. You can prepare the stew at home and freeze it to warm up later over the campfire, or prepare it at your campsite.

* Peel and cube 2 large potatoes
* Clean and slice 2 large carrots
* Peel and chop 2 onions
* Place vegetables in a large coffee can with some oil and seasoning of your choice, such as chili seasoning or Tony’s
* Put 1 pound or ground hamburger on top and season again
* Place the can in the campfire coals and leave for about 45 minutes
* Stir the contents and serve

When you are camping and cooking, get creative. Try a few of your favorite recipes from home over the campfire. Some simple alterations can make these at-home recipes transferable to the outdoors. Also, great sources for camping recipes are easily available in recipe books or online.

The American Camping Association is now known as is slightly different than the American Camp Association and is designed to cover the sharing of knowledge and information about camp programs in America. The American Camping Association is comprised of campers and outdoors professionals that are qualified in determining the positives and negatives of a camp experience and relaying that information to the general public using a set of criteria and solid information management.

The American Camping Association website offers plenty of useful information about the various ventures in which the ACA is involved, including sending kids to camp and the designation of camp sites for repairs and other operational procedures.

If the bureaucracy of the ACA does not interest you, there is still plenty of other solid information on the site about the various experiences you can have as a camper in America. You can find out how to prepare for severe weather conditions like hurricanes and tornadoes, find out about upcoming camp events and browse their message boards.

Improving the Camp Experience

The goal, in a nutshell, of the ACA through its website and other implements is to improve the camp experience for Americans. The focus is primarily on children and their camping experience in organized camping sites and programs that are specifically offered for an age group.

The ACA has been conducting this sort of service for close to one hundred years and has a good supply of ideas contributed by thousands of professionals dedicated to improving the camp experience as a whole and getting more Americans out in the wilderness with their families.

The American Camping Association considers itself to be the leading authority in child development and, with this designation, is committed to providing safe and nurturing experiences for children when they go to camp. They are also concerned with the provision of helpful adult role models, developmentally-appropriate experiences for campers, and personal growth opportunities. It is clear with this information that the ACA is not just concerned with the improvement of America’s camp sites.

Mission Statement

The American Camping Association has a mission statement of “Enriching Lives, Changing the World” and vows to accomplish this mission with the help of their staff and thousands of volunteers. The ACA is dedicated to valuing people and their differences and helps to put together several camp programs that celebrate these differences and bring people together through the outdoors.

So, you’ve gone out and gotten yourself an RV and are ready to hit the roads to see some far off place. Maybe the Rockies, maybe Death Valley, maybe Temecula, California. Temecula? That’s right: there’s plenty to see in Temecula, and what’s more, it is a good place to use as a home base for visitors who want to see both San Diego and LA. Plus, Temecula RV camping is one of the most affordable ways to see the Golden State.

Temecula RV camping takes place mostly at four or five RV parks in the greater Temecula area. These are Lake Skinner Maria, Outdoor Resorts, Tucalota Springs RV Park, and Vail Lake Resort. Each offers differing amenities, and you should contact them for rates to see which best suits your needs.

Once you have a place to stay during your Temecula RV camping trip, you can start planning where you want to visit in the city itself. While you may not have heard of Temecula’s wines, they are acquiring a bigger and bigger name for themselves. The region around the city is especially suited to warmer grape varietals, such as the charismatic and fruity zinfindels that characterize local production, and its wines are well worth exploring for the aficionado and novice alike. Because the area is lower key than Napa and Santa Ynez, it has a more honest, down to earth feel. Visitors are advised to check the Temecula Wine Grower’s Association before the Temecula RV camping trip for up to date information on tastings and the like.

If you are a dyed in the wool shopper, then taking your RV to Temecula has its benefits as well. The city has constructed a large shopping complex with various restaurants, a movie theatre, and tons of shops for you to peruse. It’s an excellent way to one of your days Temecula RV camping.

Another sure to be popular destination in Temecula is the Splash Canyon Water Park. Currently under constructed in 2006, and slotted to be completed in 2007 the theme park will boast multiple slide and raft rides, tide pools, and sun bathing facilities to add a bit of fun in the sun to your Temecula RV camping experience.

Of course, one of the reasons for choosing Temecula as the home base for your California trip is that it is centrally located between San Diego, Los Angeles, and Orange County. So, by staying in one of the parks in Temecula, you can make day trips into LA or to the beaches of San Diego, and then come back to Temecula to rest.

For many of us, it’s hard to imagine camping without a campfire. But unless you need it for heat, you might not need to go to the trouble of building one anymore. This is because camping stoves have gotten to a point that they are so small, safe, and easy to use that you just might choose their small, useful cooking power over that of a campfire. Not to mention the fact that in many campsites and national forest campgrounds, campfires are considered safety hazards and are prohibited. So camping stoves are a great substitution for your cooking needs in those cases.

Camping stoves, or portable stoves, are designed to be compact and lightweight in order to make them convenient and easy to carry. There are four basic categories of camping stoves, depending on the type of fuel that the stove uses. The most basic stoves are single burner stoves that don’t have any controls on them. They use a solid or liquid fuel that is put in the burner before it is lit. Other stoves have single burners as well but instead use a liquid fuel that is compressed into a tank, the top of which is the burner mechanism. Still other stoves use gas. They have one or more burners and also have controls to regulate the amount of gas being burned and the height of the flame, just like a gas stove in your kitchen. The last kind of stoves use spirits that drip down into the priming pan due to gravity. They actually have mostly been replaced by gas stoves because they are easier to transport, but these stoves also have a very low risk of causing a fire.

One of the problems with camping stoves is that their flames are vulnerable to the elements – particularly wind. Even if the wind doesn’t completely extinguish a burner’s flame, it could cause it to decrease in size or to become uneven in it’s placement against the cooking vessel, either of which would reduce the effectiveness of the stove. So when looking at camping stoves, you’ll want to consider whether or not a model has a built in wind shield. You may have to purchase a slightly larger (or less collapsible) model in order to get this feature, but it will help reduce frustration when you’re actually cooking with it. Many campers will try to create their own wind shield, a practice that can be very dangerous. If the wind changes directions or strength, the material being used might get blown against the burner flame and ignite. However, aluminium foil is a relatively safe material that can be used to shield if needed.

Are you interested in taking a camping vacation with your romantic partner, your friends, or your family? If you are, have you already started planning your camping vacation? If you have yet to start planning your camping vacation, you may want to think about doing so soon.

Although it is nice to know that you should think about planning your camping vacation in advance, you may be wondering exactly why you should do so. In all honesty, you will find that there are a number of different reasons as to why you should start planning your next camping vacation in advance, as well as a number of benefits to doing so. Just a few of those many reasons and benefits are outlined for you below.

Planning your camping vacation in advance will help to ensure that you are able to get a reservation. Camping is a popular activity, especially during the spring and summer months. What does this mean for you? It means that you are likely one of hundreds of people in and around your area who are also interested in having a fun filled camping vacation, possibly even at the same time as you. Unfortunately, many campgrounds are limited on the amount of space that they have. To ensure that you are able to get a camping vacation reservation, you will want to make your plans in advance.

In addition to getting a reservation, planning your camping vacation in advance may also help you get a better camping spot. What many individuals do not know is that many campgrounds allow their campers to choose which specific locations they would like to camp at. By viewing a map of the campground in question, you may find that the perfect camping spot is located next to a lake or one that is close to a hiking trail. With that in mind, however, it is important that you know that the longer you wait to make your camping vacation reservations, the less “prime,” camping locations you will have to choose from.

Planning your next camping vacation in advance will also give you more time to prepare for it. For instance, what type of foods would you like to bring on your next camping adventure or what type of games would you like to play? These are questions that you should ask yourself, as it may make it easier for you to prepare for your vacation. By making your camping vacation reservations in advance, you can determine, ahead of time, whether or not the campground has a lake, hiking trails, or electricity. This can make it much easier to prepare for your next camping vacation, as well as ensure that you have all needed camping supplies and camping equipment pieces.

It is also important to mention having a memorable experience. Planning your next camping vacation in advance is likely to make your experience a more memorable one. As it was previously mentioned, when you plan your camping vacation in advance, you are better able to ensure that you have all of the needed camping supplies and you may possibly even be able to even handpick your camping spot. This is likely to improve your camping trip.

The above mentioned reasons are just a few of the many reasons why you should think about planning your next camping vacation in advance. In all honesty, only good can come from doing so.

If you have ever been rustic camping, you would know then it is hard on the back. Sitting on the ground just isn’t for the people who are starting to feel their aches and pains. This is part of the problem why some people quit going out and enjoying their time out in nature. You can make this situation better on yourself by bringing yourself along a camping chair, and this will provide more support for your back and make it more comfortable to enjoy the evening.

Your camping chair will usually have a spot in one of the arms, or even both, for placing your beverage down. You can even get matching tables to go with your camping chair, so you can rest your belongings on a safe surface. Camping chairs are made to be sturdy and are made out of a material that is tough and often water-resistant. For the most part, your camping chair looks very similar to a director’s chair, only camping chairs are often made out of metal and directors chairs can also be made out of wood.

Your Camping Chair Is More Comfortable Around the Campfire.

Every actor and child on this earth seems to give off the impression of the ghastly stories being told around the Campfire. Yet, as our bodies grow older, and our muscles grow weaker, we can’t seem to find the interest in listening to these ghastly tales as long as we used to. We have to get up, stretch, walk around in pain and then decide it’s time to hit the sack.

Now you can sit around the campfire on your camping chair, and be able to listen to the stories you have been missing out on. The campfire is the main ingredient to spending time out in the wilderness, and so many wonderful thoughts and viewpoints are shared there.

Get More Back Support With A Camping Chair

Back support while you are camping is important if you don’t want to end up feeling crippled by day number three. You get more back support with your camping chair and allows for more enjoyment of your evenings.

Your back must be balanced with the spine in order for the rest of your body to maintain it’s balance, so it only makes sense you should be sitting in a camping chair the next time you go camping.

There are no set rules when it comes to camping gear or the equipment needed to go camping. Actually, it depends upon a number of factors – the weather at the time you propose to go camping, the camping style you wish to adopt, the amenities available at the camping site, and the duration of your trip. However, taking along the right kind of weather gear or equipments is vital to successful and fun camping.

Camping Gear – The Essentials:
There are some essential things that you just cannot dispense with if you are planning on camping. This includes items such as tents, sleeping bags, clothes including towels, cooking ware, plates, lighting and fire making devices, foodstuff, knives, soaps, toothbrushes and toothpastes, and a first aid kit. Irrespective of the type of camping you propose to undertake, you must not omit any of these items.

However, these are the bare minimum items that any camper – howsoever adventurous – must take along. But the realistic lists of items needed to go camping vary greatly. Read on for a quick view.

Items Required For Family Camping:
If you are planning on going camping with your family, expect the number of items required to expand greatly. This is because the moment kids come into the picture you simply cannot afford to ignore their comfort. Not only because you genuinely care for them, but also to avoid a good deal of whining and complaining! So take care to include proper cooking ware, folding chairs, and cots in the essentials. Children may find sleeping and sitting on hard ground too uncomfortable. You may also consider taking along a cooler for cold foods and drinks. You will also need to have a good stock of bottled water. It shall not be needed, however, if potable water is available at the camping site.

Items Needed For Protection From Weather:
While finalizing the list of take-along items to go camping, it is extremely important to take into consideration the weather. If you are planning to camp in summer and nights are also expected to be moderate, you would require minimal clothing, simple tents (inexpensive ones) and sleeping bags. In case, there is a possibility of rain or drop in night temperature, make it a point to procure solid, waterproof tents and add warm clothing to your list. Opt for sleeping bags with padding inside.

If you have plans to camp in winter and it snows at site, you would need special tents that provide you extra warmth. Also, your sleeping bags should be designed to keep you warm. Obviously, you will require the kind of clothes, gloves, socks, and shoes that obviate the possibility of frostbite.

Advice For The Rough Campers:
First, accept your limitations. Don’t get carried away by adventurous stories. Getting lost in wilderness without adequate food and clothing can prove fatal. If you do have enough stamina and knowledge of the area where you propose to rough it out, never make the mistake of precluding the essentials. Camping or otherwise, your safety is of paramount importance.
