When the adventurous decision to go camping is made, it is important to make sure that the right camping food is part of the packing plan. (...)

When the adventurous decision to go camping is made, it is important to make sure that the right camping food is part of the packing plan. Food - specifically camping food - is a vital ingredient to fully enjoy your camping adventure.

However, when camping, we often leave the modern convenience of refrigeration and other food preparation items behind. Therefore, selecting the right food for the camping adventure is important.

Simple Rules

Some simple rules for camping food are to take only what you need plus a little extra. Also, it is wise to repackage everything. Remove the food from the original package and store the foodstuff items in plastic storage bags. If instructions are needed for preparation cut them out and include them with the food.

Breakfast

A camping food for breakfast that is easy to prepare and a good source of nutrition and energy is oatmeal topped with brown sugar. If you are considering other dry cereal it is best to consider a granola type cereal as it is less prone to leave crumbs and is more compact for packing purposes. A good rule of thumb is to provide a portion of 1/4 pound per person each day. Powdered milk mixed with water is perfect to pour over the cereal.

Lunch

Protein is important in a camping food lunch and can be found in many products. A good source of protein that will not spoil is dry salami and mozzarella cheese. A good source of carbohydrates is dried fruit such as apricots and raisins or a trail mix which contains a mix of fruits and nuts. Healthy sandwiches can be made with peanut butter and jam on whole grain bread. Water, powdered Gatorade and other such drinks are important to keep the body hydrated.

Dinner

At the end of a day in the great outdoors, a nutritious camping food dinner could include an instant rice meal that cooks quickly and easily. Or you could experiment with pasta like spaghetti, macaroni, Ramen noodles or a dry soup. Sauce or spices of your choice can be added for flavoring. If you are a meat lover open a can of tuna or chicken and add that over the grains.

Snacks

Snacks should always be an important part of your camping food cache. Treats such as granola bars, nutrition bars, chocolate or hard candy helps to bring a touch of home and satisfies the sweet tooth as well.

If you enjoy camping then you know that one of the best parts of this activity is the food. (...)

If you enjoy camping then you know that one of the best parts of this activity is the food. Cooking and eating outdoors can be a fantastic experience which can be made even better with the right camping recipe.

For Starters

A great dish to start with when camping is shrimp kebab, and this is one camping recipe that is so easy you just can't go wrong. Get yourself a few metal kebob skewers or sticks and enough shrimp to fill each stick about halfway. Alternate between a shrimp and a piece of chopped onion or red pepper until the stick is full and then place the kebob on a grill over the fire. Let the kebab cook for about three minutes, pour a little chili sauce over the shrimp and voila- you have a camping recipe that is delicious and simple.

The Main Event

Well, no prizes for guessing which camping recipe we recommend here: good old beef burgers. Everyone has their own way of doing these but we think this camping recipe has an edge. Take one pound of ground beef; throw in a tablespoon of vinegar, a tablespoon of sugar and a dash of salt and pepper. Take a quarter cup of barbeque sauce and mix everything together.

Make burgers with the mixture and pat them until you have a nice, tight burger after which you can place them over a low burning fire for about ten minutes. The rest is easy - put it in a bun, maybe add a slice of cheese and whatever other toppings you enjoy and bingo - a traditional, mouth-watering burger.

Something Sweet

Now the final camping recipe that we have for you is sweet grilled banana with a chocolate filling! Take your banana and slit it open. Now push in a few pieces of dark cooking chocolate and wrap the banana in foil and place over the heat for about five minutes and you're done - it's a real treat especially if you have a sweet tooth.

We hope you enjoy these recipes but remember, for any camping recipe it is important that you thoroughly cook any meat or fish. When meat is cooked over a flame it may quickly look like it is ready but always check the inside is cooked thoroughly.

Otherwise the main thing with any camping recipe is to keep it simple and eat it with your fingers!

Are you interested in going on a hiking adventure? Whether that hiking adventure will last for a few hours or a whole weekend, you will need to choose a hiking trail. (...)

Are you interested in going on a hiking adventure? Whether that hiking adventure will last for a few hours or a whole weekend, you will need to choose a hiking trail. When it comes to choosing a hiking trail, you need to remember that you have a number of different options. No matter where in the United States you are located, you should have a number of hiking trails located a close distance away from your home.

Since you should have a number of different choices, when looking for a hiking trail to hike, you may be wondering how you can go about finding the "perfect," hiking trail to hike. To help you choose the best hiking trail, there are a number of important factors that you may want to think about taking into consideration. A few of those factors are briefly outlined below for you.

One of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration is the difficulty of the hiking trail in question. You will find that hiking trails come in a number of different formats, particularly with difficulty levels. In fact, you may find that multiple parks have numerous hiking trails to choose from. Instead of choosing a hiking trail based on the beauty of the surroundings, you will want to examine difficulty. If this is your first time going on a hiking adventure, it may be best if you choose a trial that is designed for beginners or at least those at an intermediate level.

In conjunction with the difficultly of a trail, your safety is also something that should be take into consideration. You will want to make sure that you are on a hiking trial that is well maintained and well cared for. While it can be difficult to assess a hiking trail without visiting it, it is possible to do. If you know of anyone who has been hiking recently, you may want to ask them which hiking trial they took and their views on their experience, namely the condition of the hiking trail in question. You may also be able to use the internet, namely a standard internet search, to find popular hiking trails being discussed online.

Another factor that you may want to take into consideration, when looking for a hiking trail, is security. Is the hiking trial or hiking park in question closely monitored by staff, namely security guards? In today's society, you can never be too careful, especially when in surroundings that are unfamiliar to you. Hiking trails or parks that have security guards are not only ideal in case you run into a problem, like with a stranger with poor intentions, but they are also great in the event of a hiking accident. Hiking trails or hiking parks with experienced staff members are less likely to have extreme or deadly hiking accidents.

As it was previously mentioned, hiking adventures can last for a few hours or be long as a whole weekend. If you are also interested in turning your hiking adventure into a camping one, you will need to find a hiking trial or at least a hiking park that has overnight accommodations. In most cases, you will find that these accommodations include an onsite campground. If you are only interested in hiking for the day, the overnight accommodations of the hiking trail or hiking park in question may not be a big concern of yours.

Price is another factor that you may want to take into consideration, when choosing a hiking trail to hike. In the United States, you will find that most hiking trails or parks are not free to visit. In all honesty, the fee that you are charged will all depend on the trail or park in question. Most of the time, you will find that the cost of hiking is affordable, but it is still something that you may want to take into consideration, especially if you are on a budget.

The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many factors that you may want to take into consideration, when looking for a hiking trail or a hiking part to visit. By keeping the above mentioned factors in mind, you will likely find that your next hiking adventure will be a memorable one.

Backpacking is one of the forms of low-cost international travel available. That is why many travellers are sorting to this kind of adventure. It gives them mobility and flexibility that they need to roam around a particular place.

There are many places around the world where backpacking is an ideal travel. But who would ever thought that Iraq is one of it? After the war between the coalition forces and the Republican Guards of ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, what had been left for Iraq, which is considered to be the world's cradle of civilization?

Even after the tension that happened during the summer of 2003 and the current conflicts that Iraq is experiencing the recent years, it has still something to offer for backpacking travellers. So, if you are looking for a different adventure yet you still not have an itinerary, then this article is for you. Prepare yourself-you will now invade Iraq.

Getting Started: Passport/Visa

Iraq continues to undergo restructuring its government after the US-led war against Saddam Hussein's regime in the summer of year 2003. Although, it's Foreign Service is now open to facilitate foreign nationals who are coming in and out of the country. All foreign nationals are advised to have the necessary passport and visa to facilitate proper documentation. Also, all are advised to register their presence with their respective embassies.

Backpacker's General Information

Ideal travel months are from June to August. The air temperatures in these months are ranging from 38 to 43 degrees Celsius (100-110 degrees Fahrenheit). Rains are expected in months of December to March with fair temperatures of around 15 to 18 degrees Celsius (60-65 degrees Fahrenheit).

Although the official language in Iraq is Arabic, English is widely spoken in urban centers. If you will be passing by the communities of the Turkomans who reside along the Baghdad and Mosul highways, they speak a Turkish dialect. In case you will be travelling to other places aside from Basra and Iraq, an interpreter is quite helpful.

Internal Travel in Iraq

Many airlines have cancelled all their commercial flights after the war. Although little by little, regular air operations between Baghdad, Basra, and Mosul are now starting to resume.

Iraq has a rail service, spreading over 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles) most of which is standard gauge. There is an additional 300 kilometers (200 miles) that is under construction. The regular route starts from the Syrian Arab Republic Border at Tel-Kotchek to Baghdad, Mosul, and Basra. There is also train service from Baghdad to Kirkuk and Arbil.

Travel in urban areas is now convenient, with double-deck buses plying different routes in and out of the main cities of Iraq. Bus tickets are pre-purchased at kiosks. There are also private mini-buses and taxis around the town that you can rent.

Places Not to Miss

Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq, has once been the center of attraction during the war. However, it is still the main itinerary for travellers in Iraq. Main attraction is the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, and the presidential palaces of then President Saddam Hussein that will make your visit in Baghdad worthwhile.

Basra is located 550 kilometers (343 miles) south of Baghdad and can be reached to by available modes of transportation. Although tagged as one of the major venues of battle between insurgents and the military, its beauty is still evident in the area such as extensive palm groves of unique kind in the outskirts of the city. There are other attractions that await backpackers.

So pack your things and start to have your backpacking journey on the restructured Republic of Iraq.

One way of exploring the countryside is by planning a motorcycle camping trip. (...)

One way of exploring the countryside is by planning a motorcycle camping trip. A motorcycle camping trip is different from a road trip, as you will be spending your nights under the stars, enjoying the great outdoors, instead of pulling into the first Motel and staying there for the night. If you enjoy the outdoors, sleeping under the stars, and you happen to own a motorcycle then planning for a motorcycle camping trip is just the thing for you.

Before planning on going out on your motorcycle camping trip, you will need to make sure you are prepared by selecting the right motorcycle camping gear for your trip. There is a lot of motorcycle camping gear available, the only problem is selecting the few essential items and ensuring that it will all fit on your bike. A good motorcycle camping gear bag is essential, and you must ensure that your things will all fit in it, and also that it will fit properly on your motorcycle. There is a selection of hard bags, which are fitted to your bike and can be painted to match your bike. However because of the price and the size of some of the hard bags, more often people choose to go with soft bags as they are easy to pack away and don't require framing and mounting like the hard bags.

Other items that should be included in your list of motorcycle camping gear is a tent, plastic canvas, sleeping bag, stove, eating equipment, proper clothing, personal effects, and various items for your motorcycle. It may be difficult to fit all these items onto your motorcycle that is why you must be selective when choosing your motorcycle camping gear.

When choosing a tent you want to make sure that it is a sturdy and waterproof tent. If there is enough room, you should pack a plastic canvas as this will come in extremely handy throughout the trip. The plastic canvas can be placed under your tent or over your tent for protection during wet conditions. However, if you prefer to sleep without a tent, the plastic canvas can be used as a means of shelter, but this is only recommended in dry areas. When selecting your sleeping bag you want to ensure you have a comfortable and warm bag, but also one that will roll up and fit into your bag. Another item that is important is a stove along with eating equipments such as utensils and plates. Some campsites will not allow open fires, and there's also the possibility of rain that will prevent you from making a fire, and in these cases you will be extremely grateful that you brought along your stove.

Before setting out on your motorcycle camping trip, not only do you want to ensure you have the proper motorcycle camping gear, but you also want to plan ahead by mapping out your journey, choosing campsites along the way and making sure that these sites will allow motorcycles. By planning ahead and choosing the proper gear you are sure to enjoy your camping trip.

UK campers who decide to go camping at the end of summer will find that the evenings can get very cold. Make sure that you account for the cold and damp when you make your list of camping equipment. UK weather can be very unpredictable and so the best way to deal with it is to go prepared. Always make sure that you have listed everything that you think you will need while you are on your trip.

The first thing you should check before buying a tent is that it is made from fully waterproof material. You don't want to be woken up by a deluge of water because your tent was not up to coping with a heavy rainfall. Take plenty of layers of clothing, you can always take some off if it is warm. If you've got plenty of layers then you are prepared in case it turns cold - cooler weather, especially in the evenings is more likely to happen if you go late in the season. September for example can be very changeable so it's best to be prepared. Don't forget to include some extra bedding in your camping equipment. UK evenings really do cool off in September. Buy the best sleeping bag that you can afford, one with a hood if possible - use a sleeping pad under your sleeping bag, they're inexpensive and make a good buffer between you and the cold ground.

It's a good idea to pitch your tent away from the direction of the wind - giving yourself that extra bit of shelter will go a long way to offset cold, sleepless nights. Take an extra blanket as well as your sleeping bag and sleeping pad. If you wake up because you are cold then add an extra layer of clothing - you can always remove it or open your sleeping bag a bit if you get over heated. Have a hot drink before you settle down, and don't forget that old favorite the hot water bottle when you're drawing up your list of camping equipment. UK countryside can be very unforgiving of unwary travelers so make sure that you are well prepared before setting off.

Add a woolly hat and socks to your camping equipment. UK camping stores are full of both items. When your extremities are warm it's easier for the rest of you to feel warm and then you can be ready to enjoy the next day. Even if the days are cooling off you will likely be involved in activities that will keep you warm anyway.

One of the most useful additions to portable bags is the invention of the rolling backpacks. (...)

One of the most useful additions to portable bags is the invention of the rolling backpacks. With all of the convenience of a traditional design, these backpacks are more adept at making carrying essential items more comfortable. They can work as carry on luggage on planes, in some cases they can be used as briefcases with important equipment and paperwork stored inside. The designs are virtually limitless and rolling backpacks can be successfully used by people in all walks of life. Everyone from elementary students to busy professionals will find that using a backpack with wheels is the fastest, most back friendly way to get their belongings from Point A to Point B.

There are few key elements to keep in mind when choosing the right rolling backpack for you. The first thing to consider is ergonomics. Rolling backpacks should be as compatible to the person using it as possible. For example the handle should be long enough to allow the owner the ability to walk upright when pulling it without any hunching or distortion of the back and shoulders. Since all terrains won't allow for the wheels to be used, be sure the shoulder straps are padded and wide enough for comfort. It is also a good idea to try on the pack to determine if it sits at least 2 inches above the waist. This is essential for the proper fit.

Most experts recommend that a backpack of any type, rolling backpacks included, not be packed with any weight above 20% of the person's body weight. This is especially important to consider when purchasing a pack for children. Teach them to pack their rolling backpacks in such a way as to evenly distribute the weight of their school supplies. For an adult, the same rule applies and the best thing to do is use the rolling feature to help protect those easily damaged back muscles and spine.

Of course the appearance of the rolling backpacks is important as well. Students and young adults will probably prefer a backpack that doesn't look like carry on luggage. Fortunately these backpacks come a wide variety of styles and colors, so finding the perfect look shouldn't be too much of a problem. Older adults and professionals have a lot of option in rolling backpacks as well. Many are styled to look like a small carryon case or even a professional looking tote. Once again, there are plenty of designs for men, women, and students that are appealing to each group.

Rolling backpacks are a huge benefit to busy people on the go. They are less stressful for the back and shoulders and are incredibly convenient.

Let's face it–when it comes to camping destinations, there are a myriad of places from which to choose. There are camp sites near mountains and camp sites near beaches. (...)

Let's face it–when it comes to camping destinations, there are a myriad of places from which to choose. There are camp sites near mountains and camp sites near beaches. There are campgrounds that are best suited for hikers and campgrounds that are best equipped to handle bikers. Still, if you're planning to travel through the Midwest, you may find no finer camping facilities than Michigan state forest campgrounds. They are pet-friendly, family-friendly, and definitely couple-friendly. In fact, the hospitality alone may keep you coming back for vacation years on down the line.

Michigan state forest campgrounds are certainly extensive, since there are more than 140 such campgrounds in the Wolverine state. Surf the Internet, and you'll discover Michigan state forest campgrounds located all along the state's northern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula. In fact, Michigan state forest campgrounds cover just about four million acres of state forest land.

The Michigan state forest campgrounds are situated on rivers or lakes, meaning that they are exceptional locations for boating and fishing. Many of these sites are also appropriate for hiking, horseback riding, biking, and bird watching. Other possible activities at these campgrounds include everything from cross-country skiing to mushroom hunting. Interestingly enough, some of the campsites are so isolated that they can only be accessed by hiking through the woods or rowing down a riverway.

One lovely example of Michigan state forest campgrounds is Brimley State Park, which is located along Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay. At Brimley, you can enjoy boating, fishing, and hiking along the scenic waterway. While hunting is banned at Brimley, it is permissible nearby–an area rich in deer, bears, and grouse.

Another Michigan campground worth exploring is Lime Island State Forest. There, you can choose from tent camping or cottage living, depending on your personal preferences. In order to get to the island, you have to charter a boat across St. Mary's River. Also, because Lime Island is home to black bears, you need to be careful to secure your food. While pets are permitted on the island, they are not allowed in campground buildings. Among the activities you can enjoy on Lime Island are fishing, hiking, and sunbathing.

You might also consider Highland Recreation Area as a possible camping destination in Michigan. It includes nearly 6,000 acres of forestland, marshes, and lakes in the southern part of the state–an area known for its hilly landscape. The site is appropriate for hiking, skiing, horseback riding, fishing, boating, and mountain biking. While there, you can also enjoy swimming, picnicking, and volleyball.

* Use a tarp or ground cloth. This piece of supplementary gear for your camping tent is cheap to purchase, as low as ten dollars, and will help keep your tent dry during wet weather. A tarp or ground cloth under your tent will also protect it from rocks and other ground materials that may tear or damage your camping tent.

* Your tent will most likely come with stacks, and it is a good idea to stack your tent to the ground. Simply hammer in the stacks with a heavy rock or hammer on each side to secure your tent. This will prevent the tent from being blown if you experience winds and will also keep it from moving while you are inside of the tent.

Keeping these simple pointers in mind will have you well on your way to learning how to build a camping tent. Also, remember never to build your camping tent within twenty feet of your grill or campfire.

Different places around the world offer different backpacking adventures. (...)

Different places around the world offer different backpacking adventures. They have their own culture to share with their visitors, and at the same time promoting their places and inviting them to add their places to the future backpacking itineraries of travelers.

If you still do not have an itinerary, or just confused of places that you want to have your backpacking trip, maybe you want to consider Europe as your destination.

Backpacking in Europe is not as easy as you will purchase your plane tickets and rail pass. It takes a lot of time planning your travel. In case like this, let this article be your guide in planning your visit to the old continent.

Places of Interest

You may think that Europe is not a big continent at all, like Asia or Africa, though there are many countries and cities that you cannot visit in just one trip.

It is suggested that you conduct your visit in the main cities or regions of Europe. You can have some brochures from the tourism council of European Union (EU) that lists some of the popular countries in the continent.

Getting There

Boarding a commercial plane is the best way to reach Europe. If you are thinking about your limited budget, you do not have to worry. There are flight consolidators that offer low-cost air travel tickets for travelers. There are also travel search engines in the Internet that provide good airline ticket prices.

In case that you are a student that wants to have a backpacking trip to Europe, you can also avail of the student discount air travel ticket. Check your university; sometimes they are posting list of airline companies that sells cheap air travel tickets to students.

Where to Stay

There are great places to stay in Europe. And if you are seeking a place to stay, hostels are available for such purpose. You do not have to worry about the tariff; usually they are charging around 15 euros per person. In order to book a hostel, maybe it is wise to have a Hostelling International Card which you can use while in Europe.

If you are traveling on months of July and August, you need to book ahead of time because it is considered to be the busiest months of the year for backpackers.

Getting around Europe by Eurail or InterRail

Traveling through train is the most popular way of visiting Europe. The continent has developed different modern train systems around the major locations. It is the convenient way of traveling and can take you wherever you wan to go.

Eurail is a type of rail pass to board Europe's train. Its cost is very low compared to the cost you will incur when purchasing individual tickets. It also offers discount to tourist attractions as well. However, you need to check the options for rail passes.

There are such that is just valid on certain regions or just valid on the date of the travel. In such cases, go for passes with a long validity period or unlimited amount of days of travel.

Eurail is only for non-European travelers. If happens that you are a European, you can get an InterRail pass. It is also cheaper and also valid for use outside your home country. Make sure that you have purchased your rail passes before you leave for Europe.

Your Backpack

It is advised that you only load your backpack with the things that you only need while you are on the trip. If you are planning to go out occasionally, just pack one nice shirt and a pair of pants or skirts and you off to go.

However, do not forget to bring a nice pair of shoes if you will be getting into clubs. Unlike in United States, bouncers in Europe do not allow anybody who just wears a pair of sneakers.

Do not buy a big backpack. It will just be a heavy burden for you. Make sure that it has hip belts and tightening straps. You can check different backpacking stores in Europe and get more information from them.

So you have the necessary guides that you need to start your backpacking travel. Happy traveling in Europe!

The camping equipment checklist should be treated as the camper's Bible. The word is, if you want a well organized and relaxing camping trip then make sure that you have a checklist. (...)

The camping equipment checklist should be treated as the camper's Bible. The word is, if you want a well organized and relaxing camping trip then make sure that you have a checklist. You only have to do a search on Google these days and you will find that there are camping experts springing up all over the internet. Without exception all these experts agree that the best camping trips are those that start with the camping equipment checklist.

The checklist means that you have taken stock of everything that you think you will need and can't get elsewhere while you are on a camping trip. The camping equipment checklist will be different for everyone. We each have our own ideas of what is important to a good camping trip. Unless you are going rv camping or sailing a boat up and down the canals then there is a generic camping equipment checklist of items that no-one should be without. This should include the following:

* Tent or tents
* Back packs
* Sleeping bags
* Sleeping pads
* A grill or some other form of cooking equipment
* A large torch or electric lantern
* Tin opener
* Water carrier
* Spare batteries
* Stout walking shoes
* Warm clothing
* Basic food items
* Matches
* Cooking and eating utensils

There are probably a lot of other things that most people will want to add to this camping equipment checklist as the list above is not exhaustive. You may want some extra storage room in the form of a tent attic which you attach to the roof of your tent. If you are going camping late in the season then you might want to add extra blankets and a hot water bottle. If you plan on going fishing then you will need to take your fishing tackle. Everyone should have a basic first aid kit and some generic painkillers such as aspirin or paracetamol.

The camping equipment checklist - tailored to meet your own needs, is a vital part of a well planned and stress free camping holiday. There is nothing worse than getting to your holiday destination and finding you have forgotten to pack some vital item. If you are out in the wilds with no shops and have forgotten something important then it may mean that you have to turn back. The camping equipment checklist is used to prevent this kind of thing happening and to ensure that everyone has the best camping experience possible. The list will also come in handy on your return because you can tick items off as you unpack them and store them away ready for your next camping holiday.

Fun camp cooking recipes are a great way to pass an evening around the campfire while also enjoying delicious food. Fun camp cooking recipes are an especially great activity for family camp outs. Everyone can partake in campfire favorites such as s'mores, or try a new dessert recipe that is both simple and fun to prepare. Fun camp cooking recipes will use tasty ingredients and won't require elaborate preparations or camp cooking equipment to enjoy.

On a family camping trip, fun camp cooking recipes can be tried at the end of a day while you are enjoying the campfire. If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, which can be a hard thing to accomplish while at the campground, some fun camp cooking recipes that are desserts are an especially nice way to end of your day in nature. Following is a camp cooking recipe that puts a fun twist on the traditional campfire dessert, s'mores.

* Place a broken up chocolate bar or pour chocolate syrup into an aluminum foil cup that you can create yourself, and set the cup near your fire to melt the chocolate.
* Crush graham crackers and place them on a plate or fill up a plastic bag.
* Toast your marshmallows as you usually would.
* Dip the toasted marshmallow in the melted chocolate or chocolate syrup and then roll it in the crushed graham crackers.

This recipe is sure to be a hit with the kids, and it will only take about five minutes to prepare. Other spins can be applied to the campfire favorite of s'mores for a fun time after a camp cooking dinner. For example, you can replace your traditional chocolate bar with any type of chocolate candy bar that can melt and be delicious, such as caramel chocolate bars or chocolate bars with nuts added. A less messy way of creating the s'more is to stack your graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate bars inside some aluminum foil and then wrap it up. Next, cook the package over a fire for about one minute, and when you open the foil up you will have a delicious treat.

Other fun camp cooking recipes that aren't desserts can play on some favorites straight from your kitchen. You can slightly alter any of your favorite fun foods such as sloppy joes to be fixable around the campfire. Some quick fun camp cooking recipes are great for lunch, such as tacos in a bag. For this fun camp cooking recipe, simply crush up a bag of plain tortilla chips and add inside your favorite taco ingredients such as cheese, lettuce and salsa. You can mix up the bag and eat straight out of it for a fun, quick lunch.

The backpacker is the ultimate freedom lover. Out and about in nature, they take in everything there is to offer- including the bugs, rough terrain and, at times, inclement weather. (...)

The backpacker is the ultimate freedom lover. Out and about in nature, they take in everything there is to offer- including the bugs, rough terrain and, at times, inclement weather. The seasoned backpacker is always well-prepared and leaves nothing to chance, knowing one small slip-up on even the simplest of trips can be a dangerous one. It's not the idea of getting hurt that scares them as much as the idea of being unable to get out and enjoy nature and its views! This prompts them to pay special attention to all the aspects of the gear they bring with them.

One piece of gear that warrants extra consideration is a backpacking sleeping bag. A good backpacking sleeping bag fits the need of the backpacker to a tee. It is lightweight, easily stowed and ensures the backpacker a decent night's sleep. How can this be determined? With a little bit of research, forethought and plain old personal preference, the right bag can be found with relative ease.

When looking to find the right backpacking sleeping bag, it is first and foremost best to consider what the itinerary of the backpacking trip will be. Will it be in an area that has warm or cool temperatures? What about temperature changes as the sun goes down? Is the environment rainy or does it have a lot of humidity? A backpacking sleeping bag insulated with synthetic material will better retain its insulating qualities when wet than that of natural material, or down-filled bags. Shell linings such as nylon are good for humid environments and are quite durable but do not work well in cold windy environments. Microfiber works well in water and wind resistance, yet can be costly and heavier than other fabrics. The less material a bag uses, the easier it is to stow and keep the backpacking load light.

Although the one-size-fits-all concept is a nice one, the backpacking sleeping bag that works for one person will not work for another. Different people have different metabolisms and while some sleep 'warm' at night, others require extra protection even in the warmest of climates! Temperature ratings give guidelines as to what temperature a sleeping bag can be subjected to and still be comfortable. Other things to consider are whether or not you will need a hood to keep your head warm or draft tubes for venting body heat.

Once the right backpacking sleeping bag has been chosen, using a sleeping bag liner will minimize the need to wash the sleeping bag as a whole, something that can cut down on its lifespan. Choosing a bag of good quality and caring for it without fail will allow a backpacker to get years of use out of their investment.

For many Americans, Canada remains unchartered territory–a mysterious northern land which has not been fully explored. (...)

For many Americans, Canada remains unchartered territory–a mysterious northern land which has not been fully explored. Yet, wishing for the opportunity to drive to their vacation destination rather than fly, many U.S. citizens are finding that the country up north offers tremendous vacation potential. This is certainly true of campgrounds Ontario, which offer a colorful mix of scenic beauty and exciting recreational opportunities.

If you're considering a trip to campgrounds Ontario, you might at first be overwhelmed by all the possibilities. It is true that the province offers a wide variety of camping sites from which to choose. If you're particularly interested in aquatic life, you might consider the Big Water Campground, which is known for its magnificent lake. The campground also features sandy beaches, a vast array of wildlife, and plenty of fishing opportunities. The campground sits on 200 acres of mature natural forest, making it quite visually appealing, and is located ten minutes from Timmins.

Another intriguing possibility as far as campgrounds Ontario are concerned is Cameron's Beach Trailer Park. This sandy beach is open from May 15 to September 15 and is located on Big Nellie Lake. The park is also convenient to a number of fascinating attractions, including the Polar Bear Express and the Gold Mine Tour.

Also included among campgrounds Ontario is Parc Sutton Bay Park, which is located on the enchanting Lake Temiskaming. The park is also only minutes away from shopping facilities, golf courses, and hospitals. Therefore, it's the type of getaway that does not take you too far away from the rest of civilization.

Yet another vacation destination for those who want to explore campgrounds Ontario is Campers Grove. This site is situated three kilometers east of Wheatley. In addition to camping cabins, Campers Grove offers plenty of planned activities to keep you busy on your vacation.

When visiting campgrounds Ontario, there are a few things you should know in order to keep yourself safe. For instance, Canada is not immune to tornadoes, and lightning remains a danger during Canadian thunderstorms. Therefore, it's important that you pay close attention to weather forecasts during your vacation. You can listen to the latest weather news on Environment Canada's Weatheradio broadcasts, which transmit weather bulletins on VHF-FM frequencies. Also, be sure to determine what kind of shelter is available in case dangerous weather strikes.

The campgrounds of Ontario are certainly memorable places to spend a vacation. Through careful planning and attention to detail, you can map out an RV vacation that will be relaxing as well as entertaining for your entire family.

Proper preparation is essential for your camping and hiking gear group. Safety in the wilds is an issue that all hikers must concern themselves with. (...)

Proper preparation is essential for your camping and hiking gear group. Safety in the wilds is an issue that all hikers must concern themselves with. Not only safety for themselves, but for other hikers as well. Majority of dangerous situations that occur while hiking in wilderness areas could have been avoided had the hikers paid a lot more attention to preparation and their camping and hiking gear before they left for the trail.

So, to avoid making the same mistake, you as a hiker need to keep this safety rule on camping and hiking gear in mind: preparation.

The general rule in hiking has always been minimizing camping and hiking gear weight. The lighter camping and hiking gear weight you carry, the more comfortable your hiking will be. That is why it is good to place certain limits to how much camping and hiking gear you can carry and want to carry on your trips.

However, packing light is better said and done. Some hikers, especially those who are only beginning to discover the joys of this activity, tend to pack more camping and hiking gear than they should. As a result, the weight on their backpacks hampers them down, making their progress on the trail incredibly slow.

Below are some factors that should be able to help you pack the right amount of camping and hiking gear on your next trip:

Hiking Trip Duration

When packing your camping and hiking gear, the first question should be: "How long is your trip?" The answer to this question will help you decide on what to bring for your trip.

First, you should concern yourself with provisions. Your provisions include water and food. Ask yourself how long you will be able to go before you have to replenish them.

For most hikers, water is the biggest problem. A typical hiker would need about 3-4 liters a day. That will surely add a serious load to your weight. However, you can reduce that by looking for a way to replenish your water reserves.

Next is food. Food will add another 1.5-2 pounds per day to your total camping and hiking gear load. Food is not much of a problem as you can probably hunt some small game during the hike. However, it is generally unrealistic to think that you can go for longer than 8-10 days without replenishing your provisions.

After general provisions, your next concern should be shelter. If you are going on a multi-day trip where hostels and inns are not available, then be sure to include tents or hammocks in your camping and hiking gear list. The rule of thumb is to bring the lightest and most compact camping and hiking gear tent you can find, but one that would still be able to give you protection.

Hiking Weather Conditions

There is a huge difference in the camping and hiking gear load that you will need to carry between dry, warm, and sunny conditions as opposed to cold, rainy, snowy conditions. Get the accurate weather forecast in order to make your choices on camping and hiking gears to bring.

When children are just starting out in school, whether for pre school or kindergarten, they are almost always excited about buying their first backpack. This is a right of passage that many little ones don't soon forget. School backpacks are available in a wide range of colors, themes, and styles. It's simply a matter of deciding which one is best for the student. For most parents price range and durability are considerations as well. Starting school backpack shopping early is a great way to find the perfect backpack at the best price for each specific student's needs.

Young children have a lot of choices when it comes to their school backpacks. Popular cartoon character packs are often their first choice. Little girls tend to like the Disney Princess line or flower and butterfly design. A drawback for parents with these school backpacks is that they are usually pastel colors and get dirty easily. Staying on top of cleaning is vital for keeping these backpacks looking fresh. Young boys find everything from skateboard friendly versions to action character backpacks appealing. The color choice is usually easier to keep clean. When picking a backpack for either gender in this age group, parents want to be sure the product is durable and well made. If it looks like it will fall apart in a few weeks, then it isn't a good buy even if it is a child's favorite character theme.

Older students, like high school and college age kids, have a lot of choice in school backpacks as well. Many styles are equipped to carry a laptop and other electronic devices that become so important at these levels. College students on a large campus would benefit from choosing a backpack style with wheels for those long walks to class. Some high schools don't recommend the rolling design because they don't fit in lockers very well. Like designs for the younger kids, these backpacks come in a huge variety of colors, designs, materials, and styles. Spending a little more on a backpack at this stage is a good idea. The well made backpack will stand up to use longer and older students are more likely to take care of the product. Using one of the well designed school backpacks is a useful tool in keeping school supplies and assignments organized.

Regardless of age and education level, school backpacks are an incredibly important school supply. If worn correctly they protect developing backs and shoulders and make staying organized easier. Besides, it's just a lot of fun to decide on one of the many styles and colors available.
